I use this every day. It makes the best coffee. I did end up ordering the percolator/French drip grind from Peet's and that kept the errant grounds down to a minimum. It took me about 10 potfuls to get the routine right but now I have HOT tasty coffee. I use 4 scoops of coffee for "8" cups for 20 minutes (start to finish) at high/med/high (match the gas flame to the bottom of the pot). I originally bought it for camping but I now use it daily. I made a small cup of coffee in my drip maker this afternoon for the first time in months. It just doesn't have the slightly thicker "mouth feel" that my percolator coffee makes. And of course is not as hot. I worried about the "boiling" part of perking might mess up the coffee but that doesn't strike me as at all true. Might depend on your choice of brand. Mine's never bitter, always tasty. Cleaning isn't bad. A bit of a pain smacking the grounds out of the basket. The convenience of a paper filter is missed but the result are worth it. The pot, basket and basket lid I toss in the dishwasher once a week. It cleans up fine. The rest of the time I rinse it out well. The stem with the spring I wash by hand. Don't lose your spring! and the stem discolors in the dw. If I had more than 2 people in the house, I would definitely but the 12 cup version, but this is perfect for 2 cups per person. ... show more

Ordered on March 24, 2023. Died on August 5, 2023. Cause: unknown. I really liked it, even though normal thermal cups are too tall to use with it. The cup that comes with it I really like and will keep for a long time. The washable filter is good, but you must not use a lot of coffee in it or it will overflow, about 1/4 of the filter worked for me. I don't know why it stopped working, it just won't turn on anymore. This coffee pot works well and makes good coffee but it is supposed to be 100% stainless steel construction and obviously is not as I have an induction range and it will not work on any of the induction burners unless I put a susceptor disc under it. Love this item. I drink tea on the way to work. No more waiting for the tea kettle. I put in the water and everything I need for my tea goes in the travel mug so it's ready when I have to leave. It heats the water and has auto shut off. It saves time and doesn't need a lot of space. This type of product is usually for coffee but it's versatile. I'm not a coffee drinker. I got this yesterday, set it up today and made my first cup. It was very good! The cup fits perfectly underneath, the brew strength is moderate (the way I like it), and the cup keeps the coffee toasty for a solid half-an-hour, so each sip was a pleasure. I'm very happy I chose this model. Others were more expensive and *didn't* include the cup (even though the cup was in the marketing photo). I am traveling this summer, and this little pot will be a great addition. Some hosts might be delightful people, but they make a lousy cup of joe. I like knowing I don't have to depend on anyone else to get a nice, smooth, creamy cup in the morning. I also like being able to use my favorite brands of coffee without buying k-cups. Costs much less and doesn't add the plastic waste of k-cups. I found single-cup paper coffee pods here on Amazon for a reasonable price (Wolfgang Puck Brand, $8.66 for 18). Even better! An added convenience, and these coffee pods can go straight into composting. I'm trying to reduce my coffee consumption to 2 cups a day, so this little maker will help me do that. Really, the only negative I have is the unit itself looks a little cheap. Plack plastic. But for $22 I will not complain! The only thing I would like to add is some sort of storage bag or bin, so I can keep the maker, cup, coffee, mini moos and scoop in one place. I paid $22.99 for this coffee maker.
