My father has had both hips replaced and has horrible knees and shoulders. My parents purchased one of the fancy, name brand, memory foam-type beds constantly advertised online. While he reports that the bed is comfortable, it also locks him in as he sinks in, making it very difficult to exit the bed. I ordered this product for him to facilitate an easier and more fluid process of getting up and out. The EliaValth Bed Rails device is super easy to assemble, taking maybe two minutes. There was an additional locking pin included, which is very helpful because they are rather unique, and I installed it onto one of the vertical rails just for convenient access if ever needed. There are multiple holes on both the vertical and horizontal rails that enable various combinations of height for gripping, pulling, and stabilizing on when trying to leave the bed, and also provide additional support under the bed for stabilizing the device. The attached pocket bag is great for holding a TV remote or even a phone, but my father just uses it to hold the installation and product manual that came in the original packaging. Finally, the nylon strap that is included is great at lashing down and holding the rails in place, as long as there are bed frame rails with which can support the pressure and load of the lateral force. The strap is plenty long enough for securing the frame and rails together, but just at the front or the rear. I installed the rails and fastened the product to the bed frame at the vertical rails, but I would have preferred to have a second strap with which I could have 'locked' in the horizontal rails, keeping it more secure. What would also help is if there was a better way of locking in the vertical rails at the bed frame, so even if you tightened the nylon straps really well, they wouldn't move or slip off the frame when you actually used the device. Overall, my dad is very pleased with the device and commented that it is making getting both in and out of the bed much easier for him.

It took just minutes to put this compact bed rail together. The snaps to set the bed rail to different lengths may be challenging for some seniors due to its unexpected design that they are clips that actually pull out, not the traditional pull clips with rings, but snap on clips that run the pins internally, more efficient since there aren't any rings sticking out that can get snagged. The handle has a generous padding and it comes with a nice storage bag. It is compact enough that one can keep it in the trunk, ready for seniors sleeping at hotels, motels, family etc who need the assist out of bed or around the bed. This rail only requires slipping it under the mattress to render a handgrip for stabilizing oneself. Comes with a bonus 'massage ball' which is a ball that is hard as a rock full of pointy tips, as well as comes with an extra clip, and a harness for securing the rail under the bed for highest stability. However, I've never used those straps as I find if one places these compact rails above base of bed, slat boards, etc, at the lowest point, that the weight of the mattress box holds such rails firmly, more firmly than using step stools with hand rail. I prefer this type of compact bed rail over the longer bed rails, less footprint while providing a place for a person to lift themself. I like to put them to the side of the bed and at the foot of the bed so that an unstable senior can have stable place to steady oneself walking around the bed. My parents are both in their 90s and never have had one before, now they both want one after seeing this compact rail, how unobtrusive it is, and how easy it is to setup, that it does not change the mattress, and can at any point be easily removed. Tip for putting it in yourself is to get any sturdy that can hold some weight like a couple of canes, block of wood etc, and lift the spot in the bed you want to insert this rail, and on either side where it fits, put the block of wood or cane handle with the purpose that when you let go, these things are holding up the mattress enough to let you easily slide in the rail by yourself. Then afterwards remove your 'assist' pieces, and done. You can attach the straps from the other side of the bed if that is your preference. The bed rail itself is sturdy for a compact rail, has the plus of an attached bag, and has a nice white coating, and is small enough that it doesn't turn a bed into a hospital bed, but is small and unobtrusive enough to just provide useful hand holds.

Easy to put together, installing on an adjustable bed was a little difficult. It’s a small handle, shorter than the forearm. It has worked well for our needs.

The assembly is easy, the rail sturdy, and the functionality is great. Only issue is, the support portion of the rail has no rubber traction pads, so it slips and slides a lot. Otherwise, works well, and after some extra reinforcement on the frame, was really safe!

The included pouch lets you put a remote, phone or notepad close by. The ability to slide it where you want under the mattress let me place it in the best position to help.

This was easy to assemble and very sturdy. It works great! It's easy to install in the bed and the pouch is nice to place tissues, a water, or anything you have to have within reach.

This is the second bed rail we've tried. The first had a much wider base than handrail, and was very wobbly. Any person who weighs more than the mattress will find this insecure. The strap was not helpful in our experience. I ordered this one, because while it had the same structural issue it also had straight sides and could be attached to the wall using U clamps. We tried it without hardware, and it wasn't secure, but after adding the U clamps, it was super stable and just perfect. Depending on how unsteady the person who will use this is, hardware may be needed. But this is a nicely adaptable rail that snaps open, and can be easily made very sturdy with inexpensive clamps.
