  • Solid printer but not a huge upgrade from Saturn 3
Style: Saturn 4 Ultra 12K
Overall I'm happy with the Saturn 4 Ultra. My Saturn 3 ultra started having some issues after running pretty much non stop for a bit over a year, so needed a replacement and decided to get the Saturn 4 since it hadn't been released yet when I bought the 3. However, my Saturn 3 had the 12k screen, so between the 3 12k and the 4 12k, virtually no difference in print quality, which is expected. As for the features unique to the 4, I was apprehensive about the moving tank but it works surprisingly well. I had the vroom settings on my Saturn 3, so it was already printing much faster than standard settings, but while the Saturn 4 doesn't have as much control over speed (at least in lychee there's no retract and return speed adjustments for the Saturn 4, likely due to the moving tank), having said that, it actually prints a little faster than the 3 did even with the hyped up settings. And surprisingly there's no layer mark lines from the moving tank, it looks just as smooth up the z axis as the 3. That is actually fairly impressive. The auto leveling build plate was also something I was a bit concerned about. I wasn't quite sure how it worked until I actually saw how it is built and watched it go through its leveling process. But again, it seems to work well. I will say they need to add handles to the build plate since it's a little difficult to hold onto. But there are some handles shared on thingiverse that work well, so not a big deal. The clamp to hold the build plate is a very welcome improvement over the screw/knob on previous versions. However, I wish they would have added a hanger of some sort to allow it to drip at an angle for a while before removing it completely. Thingiverse has some tilted mounts for it but I haven't tried them yet. Another welcome feature is the lifting lid, but it would have been nice if they added a handle of some sort on it. Again, handles are available on thingiverse so not a big deal, but still. It is a really nice feature though. And lastly, the spill/drip tray is certainly an after-thought as others have mentioned. It works, and it's relatively easy to clean. However, it's just a thin stamped (vacuum formed?) plastic that feels like one of those disposable plastic trays that restaurants use for to-go orders. But whatever, it works. And, again, thingiverse has some drip trays that can be printed but I haven't tried those yet either. Is it worth the price difference to the Saturn 3 ultra 12k? Eh, yeah I think so. The convenience of the lid, auto leveling, etc does save some time and helps to keep the machine clean. However, the Saturn 3 ultra 12k will get you the same print results and because it doesn't have the moving tank and auto leveling build plate, you get more z axis height with the 3 model. So, the 3 is not as convenient, but it's just as capable as the 4. I guess take that for what it's worth. I'm happy with it though. ... show more

  • Good printer in every detail
Style: Saturn 3 Ultra
TL;DR; I'm finding following PROS of this printer: - Faster than competitors out of box without any tuning and preparations. Just get it and print faster than competitor - Precise time estimation in chitubox. it prints roughly the same time that you see in chitubox. No huge underestimations detected by me - Overall good user experience with printing, cleaning, interacting. Might be better though. There is a room for user experience improvement. For more impressions read below. I have Anycubic M5S to compare, so my highlights based on comparison of Saturn 3 Ultra with Anycubic M5S. Below you'll find items that I like more in Saturn 3 Ultra rather than M5S having both on my table. My impression about build quality - solid build and overall good engineering. - It looks gorgeous. I keep it in enclosure box without top lid, but anyway, very nice look. - Solid metal body has handy side effect for me. I can stick something magnetic to it. In my case, it's chitu heater. Top surface where screen located is plastic - Handy resin VAT. It has handles instead of cavities (like on Anycubic). Handles allow you hold VAT much easier/stronger and that means less spills and overall less mess. Absence of cavities means that there is no resin in cavities. Less time to clean the VAT - Touch screen with good resolution and response. Good UI overall. - WiFi without pain. Just connect to your spot right from Saturn 3 Ultra screen (I didn't managed to have working WiFi on M5S). No flash required if you're using chitubox. Small, but very nice improvement for me - Ball screw. This is something affiliated by Elegoo as faster and smoother movement over the lead screw. That's exactly it. When you manually manipulating Z-axis it moves faster and smoother than Anycubic M5S. I can clearly see that by my eyes. And have suspicion that this reflects on print times. - Build plate surface. It more resistant to scratches, has two ribs in mount profile which keep plate in place (in the same place) when you releasing or tightening fixing nut at the top. - USB charcoal filter. Well, it's roughly has x3 bigger filter area than Anycubic and you have one in a box. Somebody could say "who cares, it's a toy" and probably will be right, but it's there for free and it has bigger filter surface. One drawback: it runs only when print starts. You can't have it running if you're not printing. So, enclosure post filtering is not possible with it. Now, about speed. Measurement been taken on stock profiles of Siraya Tech Emerald Blu for M5S and Saturn3 Ultra. Those profiles have different speed settings. 240 mm/min lift&retract for M5S and 320 mm/min for Saturn 3 Ultra. Which is big difference. Maybe for a good reason maybe not. Ameralabs exposure test in original size (~15mm tall). Conjure Rigid resin with Siraya tech Emerald Blu V2 stock profile for Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra. Chitubox estimated time as 52 min print. Actual time taken - 47 min. The same model with the same resin but with Emerald Blu V2 profile for Anycubic M5s takes ~1h15m (01:14:55 or something like 01:14:5X). Сhitubox can't estimate precisely or even close. Usually, actual print time is x1.5 or more from chitubox estimate. Photon workshop gives precise estimations (which are ~ x1.5 bigger than chitubox), but I can't get used to it. Well, that's 28 min difference on a print 15mm tall on stock profiles. Guess, promised 100-150mm per hour not achievable on resin with high viscosity, but Saturn 3 Ultra clearly faster than M5S out of box without any profile tuning or preparations. Print quality No surprise here. It's good. On par with M5S when you're looking on printed model with your eyes. I'm more functional prints guy rather than miniatures, so the only high-detail prints I see is calibration tests. And results look pretty much the same for my eyes. Now, some drawbacks that I've noticed: - You have update over wifi option in UI but it does not work (says that feature does not supported). Guess, they will add this in future firmware releases but at the moment of writing with 1.4.3 firmware it does not work. - Elegoo fans producing more noise than Anycubic. It's hard for me to say whether it louder or just more unpleasant frequencies, but difference noticeable. Honestly, I don't care much about this since it sits in enclosure. - Screen might be hard/not comfortable to read. Depends on how good your eyesight. I wish it could be bigger and/or easier to read. - 4 stars "for beginners" because Anycubic autoleveling and pressure sensing that detects failed prints is hard to beat. ... show more

  • Couldn't be happier!
Style: Saturn 4 Ultra 16K
Absolutely spectacular purchase! It came assembled and has quite a large build volume. Not as big as my M3 Max, but still quite large. Quality of prints is beautiful, and the touch screen is a helpful feature. The prints are challenging to remove, but I expect that's a feature of the new build plate. Once it wears, it will likely be easier to remove. Could be the calibration settings, too... ... show more

  • Definitely worth the money.
Style: Saturn 4 Ultra 16K
I had a resin printer for over 4 years decided to upgrade to this guy. The old printer was good but man a lot has changed in 4 years this thing is great and I love the camera.

  • Absolute garbage parts, avoid if possible
Style: Saturn 4 Ultra 12K
These machines are the worst. In 3 months, I have owned 2 of these machines and they're operated for a total of 30 days each MAYBE. I've had print screens burn out, I've had failures on both motherboards, I've had issues with the front touch panel LCDs go out twice. These are made with terrible quality parts and keeping them running has cost me more than they're worth. Support is borderline worthless, you might go 1-2 weeks before they agree to send you a replacement part, which in turn won't work. They don't troubleshoot effectively and the replacement parts have the same problems. On top of that, I've never had more misprints than I have on these machines. That could be a settings issue, sure, but the fact that they don't work out of the box is extremely disappointing. Definitely will not be buying again and am actively seeking ways to get my money back (although I'll never get my time back!) ... show more
