  • Great for beginner or experienced users
Style: Saturn 4
After owning a form1+ many years ago. I can say this is and absolutely impressive and affordable unit (Saturn 4 standard with green hood). Setup only took minutes. And if you're a 3D artist and already familiar with the terminology, the voxeldance software included on the USB drive proved to be quick and powerful for slicing your STL or OBJ models. Even includes a price calculator. Which leads me to the cost of resin and replacement tank film. Much better than from labs. If you got the extra change go for the ultra version. Do yourself a favor and find some user created spread sheets on resin/exposure settings. While default works great, fine tuning makes a world of a difference. ... show more

  • Works great!
Style: Saturn 4
Easy set-up, there is a definite learning curve to using a 3D printer but this wasn't too bad to start using. Buy a LOT of paper towels, some isopryl alchohol and a few of the silicone trays, because resin printing is MESSY to deal with. Order some release liner film and BE GENTLE when removing parts that stick to the tray instead of the build plate. If you try to use force on the film you WILL tear it, letting resin dump everywhere and creating a HUGE mess! 3d printing is a blast and you will get the hang of it pretty quickly. ... show more

  • Very nice print detail and easy to learn
Style: Saturn 4
First off the printer is working GREAT! My only complaint is that it doesn't have the multiple exposure test feature like the Saturn 4 Ultra. I chose this printer (Saturn 4) because I didn't need or want the extra speed and moving parts of the Ultra. My first print of the Rook test piece did fail and as you can see in the pic of my second print of the Rook that it had a lot of air bubbles on the bottom. BE SURE and give the bubbles time to dissolve in the vat after pouring in the resin before printing. Also be sure and gently stir the resin with the included plastic spatula before printing. The pics are 1/25 scale model car parts using Elegoo 8K water washable vanilla resin. I settled on a 20- 25 second bottom exposure and 2 second normal exposure @ .03 layer height. All other settings in the Chitubox slicer are default set for my printer and resin recommendations from the Elegoo official settings for resin spreadsheet. They were washed, dried then cured in the Mercury XS curing station for 5 minutes. ... show more

  • Challenging first few weeks
Style: Saturn 4
EDIT (to initial review below): After a few weeks of experimentation and calibration, I've gotten some good prints out of the Elegoo Saturn 4. The big thing that I learned is that when a print fails, it's essential to very carefully clean out any solids from the resin tank. Otherwise, those chunks will interfere with subsequent prints, resulting in sporadic unpredictable failures. Elegoo provides a few paper funnel filters for passing the leftover resin back into the bottle -- kind of a hassle, but it gets the job done. The Elegoo customer support personnel were responsive and sent lots of diagnostic information for doing test prints; in the end, I think I was the one who had to figure out what was causing the problem, though. There's only so much that they can do in terms of remote support. What I learned most of all during this process is that resin printing is messier and more failure-prone than FDM printing. It's possible there might be easier printers for first-time users, but this was my experience with the Elegoo Saturn 4. Original review follows. I've had great experiences with an FDM printer and was lured by the promise of higher-quality prints from Elegoo using resin. So I got the Elegoo Saturn 4, set it up, and tried printing the rook model supplied by Elegoo. All it produced was a circular wad of Elegoo resin at the bottom of the resin tank. I used Elegoo Standard Resin 2.0. I'm really surprised that the Elegoo printer didn't even work on the most basic test run, given their supposedly great brand name, and I'm even more surprised that the user manual doesn't provide any relevant guidance for troubleshooting. I've reached out to Elegoo for help and might hear back. If not, or if they can't provide a basic troubleshooting guide, then this will be a definite return item. ... show more

  • NOT LINUX COMPATIBLE
Style: Saturn 4
its huge, ordered this before moving to new house, just took it out of the box, this isn't the tilting bed model (i thought it was)... BUT the dam software is only for MAC and Windows, i've used linux for over 25 years, i can grab appimages for my other printers but this i will have to WINE it (which sucks thats the 4 star). SOoooooooo if your a professional that likes to queue and script workflows and production, this might not be the software for you, i'm going to check the forums, reddit, etc. for a way to edit models for this beast. :( ... show more

  • Changes the game
Style: Saturn 4
Purchased another branded resin 3d printer for my husband as a gift, while that was a great starter printer (of all the ways to troubleshoot) this elegoo printer knocks it out of the park- we've had more successful prints, less waste of resin and was easy to set up out of the box. The printer also has a automatic leveler so no more having to level your vat before prints. It's also quieter and less stinky then you'd expect, but still you're working with uncured resin so a large well ventilated area is needed. ... show more
