  • Wished I had this years ago.
I think this will work fine for my purposes. A couple suggestions for improving would be to have a latch on the end so when you pick it up it stays together. I’d rather pick it up from the side. I’m going to use bungee cords to make it easier for me to move.

  • Effective and Convenient
I am impressed with this product. It gets the job done fairly well with a simple design and does a few things to try to be convenient. I have a bit of concern on quality but if used correctly, this can really be exactly what you need. PROS - Waterproof - This is mostly a mechanical product with electronics being used to only extend a rod. The rod is extended with the remote and the physical design of the chair is such that none of the electronics need to get wet. It's actually somewhat clever. - Weight limit: The weight limit is fairly high. I couldn't get close to testing the weight limit except by having children sit on my lap. It worked fairly well. It seemed a little slower but did not seem to struggle. - Flaps: There are flaps that pop out. It seems that the design is to get the flaps to lay on the edge of the tup. This makes for an easier transition out of the tub. - Carrying handle: The chair folds up nicely and can be carried with a single hand. - Suction cup: There are suction cups on the bottom of the chair to keep it stable while in the tup. It's a nice addition. CONS - Quality of flaps: I would be careful to keep the flaps level to the tub when using them. They don't seem to be able to hold much weight and I think they might break if you put too much weight on them. They also don't flop down all the way so they don't seem to safely flop down if you just sit on them. I'm worried about breaking them one day if I'm not careful. This works really well. It is simple but effective. ... show more

  • Decent Lift Chair - NOT 350# Maximum Weight as Stated
First of all, no one in our household weighs close to 350# or even 300#. Not even 225#. So, I'm not too worried about the weight limit. The description page on Amazon highlights the fact that this lift chair has a maximum weight limit of 350#. BUT, on 3 different pages of the instruction manual (see attached photos), the instructions CLEARLY state that the maximum weight limit is 300#. And on the back of the lift there is an orange warning label stating that the limit is <308#. Nowhere does it state a 350# limit as the main Amazon page states. It is FRUSTRATING when the manufacturer can't or won't read their own manual before they make an incorrect claim. Three of the attached photos showing the max limit of 300# comes from the user manual and the orange warning label is on the back of the chair. All that said, the chair was easy to assemble. You DO have to snap the back into the seat fairly firmly, or it won't go in. Don't be afraid to break it when doing so. With enough force, it will slide into place easily. The chair is fairly sturdy. Once charged it raised and lower the seat without issue. It is somewhat slow raising and lowering, but I'm guessing the slower speed is to keep users safe. Especially, those with limited mobility to begin with. I'm not sure why the RED STOP button is included. When you let go of the up or down button the unit stops moving. Maybe it's a safety feature if the arrow buttons don't work. Who knows? So far, we haven't had the need to use it. It took about 2 hours for the remote to charge and the indicator light did turn green (from red) when it was fully charged. We placed the chair in our bath, and it will be useful for our needs. We also tested it on the living room floor as if someone had fallen and needed assistance to get up. I think that's the best reason to buy this lift. With assistance you could roll yourself onto the chair and then have the chair lift you into a sitting position. For example, we can't physically lift our mother-in-law (she's too frail), but we could slide her onto the lift and let the chair take her to a sitting position. Of course, the chair would have to be accessible when that happened, if one was living by him or herself. Longevity? Well, we'll have to see about that. With reservations based upon the inaccurate weight maximum and the $400 price, I still found this to be a decent lift chair for limited or frail family members. It will take you to a sitting position allowing you to get into a walker or wheelchair from there. The price seems a bit on the high side, but that's subjective. At $300, I'd raise my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. If you need a chair for someone over 300#, this isn't it. ... show more

  • Appears designed for tub use, but works off the floor too.
This is fairly stable even on carpet, and with it I (5’ almost, 115 lbs) can get my husband (6’, 200 lbs) up off of the floor and into a wheelchair even if he’s totally unconscious. We practiced, and I swear he was making himself as limp as humanly possible. I had to drag him onto it using a gait belt or a wide tow strap, which I actually found easier. It’s a LOT easier if he is awake and able to help at all. It’s very difficult to pick *anyone* up off of the floor if they’ve fallen, regardless of size, and this is a mechanized device that does the lifting part for you, which I think is absolutely brilliant. It’s easy enough to move around with its integrated handle, and I wish I’d known this existed for my mom, who could have continued to take baths. The “wings” will lay over the sides of a bathtub, and it has suction cups on the bottom to keep it super stable for actual use in a tub (or on tile or another hard surface.) In twenty or thirty years this may be the only way I can manage to get in and up and out of a tub, and I think it’s a brilliant invention. We’ve only used it up to a 200 lb person, but it didn’t seem to be straining at all, so I’d expect that it can lift up to at least 300 lbs if not it’s claimed 350 lbs. It does seem a bit narrow for a 350 lb person. I highly advise using a gait belt or similar to keep a good hold on the person being lifted for balance and safety, especially if you’re on carpet. The mooshier the surface the base is on, the more wobbly and unstable it is (not the fault of the machine)— just be aware and be careful. I’m happy with our new capabilities and grateful to have it. It’s going to stay charged and be in our medical equipment closet until we need it, which could be any day at our ages! ... show more
