This is one of those tools that is awesome to have when you need it. It was put together quite easily, and I had it up and running within half an hour. You will need to charge the battery, install the guard with two screws, put the chain on the chainsaw bar, attach the chainsaw bar to the entire unit making sure the chain is in the unit correctly and tight, plug it in, and you are ready to go!! While it wont cut down big trees, the branches we cut in our backyard, along with some shrubs we found this worked very efficiently and quickly. As a woman, I found this easy to pick up and use. The unit comes with a lithium battery that you will need to charge and use to run it. It includes gloves to keep your hands safe, a tool to assist in putting it together, and goggles to wear while using it. This handy chainsaw solves the problem of having something that is a bit more powerful then just a hand saw, and can work fast and efficiently on those hard to attack and complete gardening jobs. We used it on a tree that would have taken us hours to cut, and it was done in 15 minutes! Love that. You will also need to buy oil as it does not come with any oil.

I have tried out more than a few electric chainsaws over the years. Most of them are great, and have plenty of power. But, none of them I have tried have Needed oil. Every gas powered chainsaw on the market needs bar oil. So does this electric one, finally. Someone thought to build an electric one with the oil bar. This thing is pretty well built, comes with a battery, and it's own charger. You have to buy your own bar oil, unless you have some on hand. It doesn't hold much, just a couple shot glasses, but it definitely helps while cutting. Overall, this is a great electric chainsaw. Great design, finally Takes oil. Comes sharp, great battery life, long blade, useful for multiple situations. Highly recommended.

Let me start off by saying that my rating would've been much higher but for three main issues. Otherwise, this is a neat, non-threatening garden/landscaping workhorse. So let's get into it.... Opening the box, there's a tiny bit of assembly required. I was impressed to find a pair of safety glasses and work gloves, which are essential when working with chainsaws. Score one for Team Chainsaw! Next, I charged the battery while I busied myself with assembly. More positives: the charger is included and doesn't require the saw itself to charge the battery! Score 2 and 3! Now it's time to install the hand guard, blade and chain, and despite an instruction booklet, this is where things get murky. I can't ignore how terrible the instructions are! They're terribly written and even refer to figures (drawings) that don't exist! This actually makes things harder IMO. The object is to slip the chain onto the blade and the end of the chain onto the drive sprocket, all while making sure that the tension screw aligns with a hole in the blade as you snap on the cover/chain guard. Got that? Having only two hands is a handicap here, not to mention that nothing in the instructions TELLS you about the tension screw. I spent a while wondering why one of the two bolts wouldn't tighten before I took a super bright light and saw what was happening. So here's the tip: with the cover off and in your hand, turn the tension knob until the screw is in the approximate position it needs to be in. Then grab the chain/blade with a gloved hand, slip the end of the chain onto the sprocket and put the cover in-place, trying not to move the blade around enough that the chain slips out of the groove. Insert the first bolt and then hand tighten it. Next, turn the tension knob in the needed direction (you can see it when looking up under the guard) until it snaps into the hole on the blade. At that point, your first bolt will be able to be tightened more and the second one will actually grab hold. Tighten them fully with the included Allen key and you're ready to rock! Well...almost.... One notable missing item is another chainsaw essential: oil. They tell you to fill the reservoir (the cap called a "bulb" in the directions) but if you're unfamiliar with chainsaws, you might be baffled. Happily, it's the last part you won't have explored, so it's now apparent. You just have to go get some oil. A weird omission. Another weird omission: no plastic blade guard. Every other chainsaw I've had includes one. My biggest beef, though, is the completely open underside of the blade cover. It seems all too easy for errant fingers or foreign objects to be able to get up in there while it's in operation. Lastly, the saw depends on the plastic cover, held with its two bolts, to hold the blade/chain assembly and make the whole thing work. It doesn't give me confidence that it's going to last. At last I was ready to go outside and cut down a small stand of unplanted trees that had taken up residence in my backyard flower bed. To my surprise, the little saw made quick work of them and did so quietly! You won't need earplugs with this saw like you do with the gasoline powered ones. The 20V motor seems up to the task of buzzing through anything that my yard might throw at me. The sound and light weight are my two favorite aspects of this saw. In the end, it's a decent little saw for the money, but has its quirks. If you can live with them, then you'll get a lot of work done for extremely little damage to the bank account.
