I love that you can use finger print, physical key, keypad with PIN, and a key card fob (awesome to give to people as temp use or those not smartphone friendly). But the bad is that it will auto lock at 30 seconds with no adjustability at all. So you pull into the driveway it detects phone and unlocks, but takes you longer to get to the door and it is now locked again. Or you open it to walk out and check the mail box and return to find it auto locked while still open. That is the one sticking point that my family and I cannot accept. I switched to this lock from a much more expensive Eufy fingerprint Wi-Fi lock and like this one much better. The Eufy does have more metal in its construction so it may be more durable but functionally wise it’s awful. This lock installs much the same as any other smart deadbolt so it only took me a few minutes. The metal back plate, which secures the lock to the door, is only about half the height of the rear unit but I’m not entirely sure that’s indicative of a problem. Most of the back is constructed of ABS plastic though the entire front is very sleek, durable, and primarily metal other than the keypad. I don’t mind using AA batteries instead of a rechargeable assuming they end up lasting 10 months as claimed. There’s a USB port under the front of the lock to provide emergency power if the batteries do die. There is one button under the battery cover and it appears to do nothing other than factory reset the lock. The lock mechanism is pretty loud much like my first keypad lock purchased a decade ago. The Eufy is nearly silent in comparison but this aspect is not something that makes a difference to me. I was easily able to add the lock to my existing Smart Life account via Bluetooth. The Wi-Fi gateway is tucked away in the packing material so be sure you don’t miss it. There isn’t much included for gateway instructions but essentially you need to add it to Smart Life after adding the lock then add the lock to the gateway inside Smart Life. Fingerprint recognition has been extremely fast and it always wakes up when I first touch it. The Eufy often has to be pressed multiple times to either wake it up or get it to recognize my finger. I tried unregistered fingers on this to see if just had poor quality identification but none of my alternate fingers was able to unlock the door so it can’t be too bad. I registered one of the IC cards which was straight forward and works fine. Unlocking via the app is also simple and I’ve encountered no issues. Waking up the keypad to enter a code is also responsive but be aware the code must be at least 6 characters. The app provides notifications when the lock is locked or unlocked. The app makes it easy to generate a random code which is valid for 5 minutes or create your own code with a set date/time it becomes valid and ends. If you have other family members they can install the Smart Life app and you can give them permission to modify appropriate settings. There is not a fancy feature like being able to type random digits before and after a valid code to trick people looking over your shoulder. Some of my locks have that but I never use it anyways. I was able to set this up for Apple HomeKit by using HomeBridge and a fork of the official Tuya plugin. This allows control, automation, and notification through Apple Home. I have tried several smart locks before, but this is the first one that had the option of Bluetooth in addition to a WiFi Gateway. For starters, this lock was very easy to assemble. As long as your door and deadbolt shaft are standard, this should be a direct fit with little to no modification. Two bolts secure the back plate to the front plate through the door, and the ribbon plugs into the rear control panel which mounts on the back (inside house) plate. The only thing you can mess up here is installing the deadbolt shaft/guide upside-down. I have a right-hand lock and installed the bolt with the inner link in the shape of a T. The front plate will slide through this inner link nut and control the opening/closing of the deadbolt. Once the deadbolt and control plate/key plates were all installed, I inserted the batteries and searched for the lock in my Tuya app (which is an identical app to SmartLife--exact same thing, different branding). The app found it immediately and connected with no problem. Soon, I was adding fingerprints, codes, and setting up alerts. I love that each user can have multiple fingerprints and pass codes. I also love that you can assign a temporary pass code to share with a friend on a one-time-use basis. The lock is controllable via Bluetooth, and with the separate gateway (which mine came with) you can link the gateway to the lock and therefore control the lock via WiFi through the SmartLife/Tuya app. The gateway needs to also be set up in the app, and then it can search for and find the lock and pair with it. Pretty simple. As others have mentioned, the lock is noisier than others but I don't mind it. Operation is smooth as butter and the lock looks really nice. I don't plan on using a key, probably ever, but a cover for the keyhole would have been a nice touch. So far, I am unable to control the lock by voice using Alexa or Google Home. I will work on that a bit more and provide an update if I can get it to work. Otherwise, I will just use the Tuya app if I need to control the lock via WiFi. It looks like the lock can be programmed with routines, so you could theoretically unlock/lock it at a certain time. This lock CAN auto-lock, with a duration of 1 - 30 seconds. Auto-lock can also be disabled. Other than what's already mentioned in the user manual and elsewhere, I can only add that I really prefer this lock over others that I have tried (so far) and hope that the batter life is 4-6 months. This lock looks great but the other instructions are lacking. I’ve had too many problems figuring out how it’s supposed to work. Then when I thought I’ve figured it out, it doesn’t work. It seems to forget my fingerprint and passcode too often. I end up using another door to get into my house. For a product that just seems obvious on how it’s supposed to work, it doesn’t.
