  • Amazing! AND important install info
This thing is rock solid and literally no light between slide and the mount. Best mount of this type that you can buy. After calling EGW before install and speaking with a tech., here are the installation tips I have found that might help with your install: 1.) INSTALL FROM LEFT TO RIGHT with muzzle pointing away. Probably the single most important thing I heard. That is b/c this mount is tapered; you can clearly see that when looking at it. I am wondering how many other reviewers did not know this. 2.) Putting the part in the freezer helps. 3.) EGW also suggested using a couple of drops of blue Loctite in the dovetail to aid as a lube during install but then it also does what Loctite is supposed to do. 4.) Use a sight pusher! They even recommended the HJP sight pusher easily found via an Amazon search. It worked perfectly. This was mounted on my gun with zero issues following the above in 10 minutes. No hammering, so marring, no uncomfortable "I am about to F-up my gun" moments, no swearing. FYI my regular gunsmith said the EGW mount, less having your slide milled, is the absolute best option. Do not even think about the cheaper versions you can find on Amazon. Good luck. ... show more

  • 1200 rounds in on a G17
So far, so good. I have a Vortex Viper red dot mounted and have experienced no issues at all so far. Obviously you will give up your rear sight if you go this route. This is on a range-only gun for shooting steel. Also, it *will* add weight to your slide once the optic is mounted. In my case I had to drop to a 15 lb recoil spring for reliable operation across ammo brands -- but I built my Glock -- you may not have any issues at all. I should add that I had my gunsmith mount it, as they don't charge much for this kind of installation. He said it was extremely tight to mount. As I never plan on removing it, this is probably a good thing. However, buyers should be advised that home installation may be pretty hard, even with a good sight pusher. ... show more

  • It will stay put once you finally get it in all the way.
This sight mount is as good as you are going to get unless you want to cut your slide. vortex recommends it if you choose this type of mounting. It is super tight fitting. As in almost too tight. You can install this mount with a couple of small blocks of wood, some painters tape, and a heavy hammer. It will go in easy until the last eighth of an inch or so. This is where you have to be brave because your gonna have to smack the hammer pretty hard to get that last bit. Just cover everything with a couple layers of painters tape and replace it with a new layer of it wears away as you drive the mount in. I put tape on the wood blocks as well. ... show more

  • Use a Sight Pusher for Installation!
I got a kick out of reading the reviews for this item. People bashing on their slide with a hammer to no avail. Use a sight pusher! I had the old sight pushed out, and the new mount centered in 5 minutes. The mount seems to be very sturdy. I have it mounted on my Glock 20 with a Burris FastFire III. Even though I have not been to the range yet, I think I will really like it based on previous reviews. As for value, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than having the slide machined, and it is reversible. I can even move it to another pistol down the road, if I want. ... show more

  • Perfect mount for Vortex viper red dot optic on a Glock 35
Very tight and firm fit when installed. Some may find it difficult without the right tools as it is designed as a press fit installation. I imagine a regular sight pusher, even one that is Glock-specific will not work. Installed mine using an industrial grade smooth-jawed vise to hold the slide. Started it into the dovetail with moderate taps with a rubber tipped mallet. When it would go no farther used 12oz hammer on a hardwood block until I had it centered on the slide. No damage to the finish of the mount. I've used EGW mounts on 2 CZ's and a Springfield 1911-A1 all fit perfectly but this Glock mount is exceptional in that you couldn't even see daylight between the slide and the mount on all mating surfaces. Very tight tolerances everywhere. Very pleased with this purchase. ... show more

  • Easy to install
After reading the other reviews I was concerned about the difficulty of installation. I had no issues. Install from left to right , wrap with tape and give it a firm whack with a gunsmith hammer.

  • 4 stars for now
This thing was really tight going into the sight slot, to the point where i'm pretty sure it's a permanent fixture of my slide now even without the set screw and loctite. I almost thought it wasn't going to go in but i gave it a little muscle with my hammer and punch and got it lined up. Holds vortex venom on slide securely, now only time will tell to see how it holds up. I doubt it's going anywhere, but i'm knocking off a star for how annoying the install was. ... show more

  • Great, but really, really tight
Superior to a two-piece mount, but need a high-quality pusher to place correctly. I tried to do it myself with a hammer and nylon punch but could not finish the job. You might be able to finish it if you spray lube in first, but I think lube could ultimately defeat the purpose of the high-friction dovetail mount. I ended up bringing my handiwork to a gunsmith to finish, and it's been rock-solid after 500+ rounds with a venom red dot. ... show more
