As expected from EGo, this is an excellent string trimmer. It works well and is easy to handle. The adjustable, telescoping, handle helps a lot in preventing fatigue and handling. Ego tools are great --save for the string trimmers. I've bought two and my experience has been frustrating. Replacing the string on them manual models is arduous and inconvenient. Also the 'tap to advance the string' mechanism usually fails after a few months of use. So I bought the Powerfeed model, hoping it would solve these problems. But the model I received didn't work at all --wouldn't advance the string and only made a clicking sound. Calling customer service was of little use, since the replacement head is out of stock. Company should have offered to send me a new model entirely, but no way. So I've opted to return the purchase. Word to the wise: the 5 year warranty actually doesn't apply to the string trimmer head --this all important part only carries a 90 day warranty. I have no hesitation recommending Ego chain saws, mowers, and hedge trimmers --but their string trimmers are clearly a work in progress (as is their customer support). Update -returned trimmer , got replacement after 2 weeks and am happy to say it works well. Customer service is awful but tool works as advertised. An improvement over manual loading. Great trimmer. Got the no battery and charger model since I have the 6.0ah batteries from my mower purchase. They are compatible but it is heavier with that big mower battery. The trimmer itself is light but it is very strong. I barely have to full throttle and it cuts any weeds and grass. Huge plus that it’s super quiet and only runs when you pull the trigger unlike gas powered ones. It is kind of hard to edge without the edger tool but it gets the job done. ... show more

I have an Ego self-propelled push mower and blower, so easy to go this route. Really glad I bought the self-winding version - that is my favorite function. I spend 1/2 the time I used to on weed wacking because the string management is so much easier. All you have to do is cut a 14' length of string, feed it in, and push the button. No more winding and adjusting. Also, the string length self adjusts without bumping - I was pleasantly surprised how well implemented this feature is. String seems to last longer while doing more work with this trimmer. It's quite powerful compared to other electric trimmers (including ones that plug in with a power cord) using the same string. I use both 5Ah and 10 Ah batteries with this trimmer; the 10 Ah lasts 3-4 times as long as the 5 Ah when I'm cutting heavy weeds and small saplings down by the lake or by the woods. This is a powerful trimmer for the homeowner and after a year of ownership, I am extremely pleased with it. However; make sure you get a version with a strap if you're going to doing more than 20 minutes of work with it. And especially if you use the 10 or 12 Ah battery. ... show more

I bought this because it seemed to have great reviews, and I was pretty happy with my Ego mower. I also really wanted the automatic line feed, and I thought Ego was the only brand that has that feature. But actually it isn't, there are other (cheaper) brands that have that feature as well. This trimmer is extremely heavy, in my opinion. I have a smallish city lot, and I just used it to trim the edges, but I was pretty miserable while I was doing it. Despite its size and weight, it's also weirdly short. I'm 6'2, and I think this would only be comfortable for people under 6' or so. I had to lean forward while I was using it, and with its weight, it becomes uncomfortable very quickly. I did consider ordering the strap (which they really should include, if they want it to be this heavy), but because I need to lean forward when I use it, I suspected it would still be uncomfortable. Luckily Amazon was kind enough to accept the return even though I had used it (I asked before sending it back). If Amazon wasn't going to accept the return, I was already prepared to sell it at a loss as a used item. But I appreciate Amazon taking it back for a full refund. I ended up getting a Black & Decker trimmer, which also has the automatic line feed feature, and it also has a wheel on the side so you can use it as an edger. The Black & Decker trimmer I got is about half the weight, and it cost about half the price. A much better value for a much lower price than the Ego. ... show more
