    • Gets the job done
I went with the carbon fiber to keep the weight lower and I’m glad I did. The battery can get a little heavy after a while. This trimmer is easy to use, battery is quick to charge, and strong is simple to reload. We will see how long this lasts (only a year old so far) and it’s held up well.     • Lots of power but unwieldy
The string trimmer has plenty of power and starts with a press of a button and squeeze of a trigger. The downside is the length of the shaft. Also, I use a high-capacity battery from an Ego snow blower which makes it a bit on the heavy side. However, after a few minutes of use, I got used to the size and weight and was easily clearing weeds from the back yard. Now I need to develop a touch for the power trigger which seems to have little tactile feedback for adjusting the speed. ... show more

The EGO battery powered tool system is, in my opinion, the best one on the market. This trimmer is light weight, has great power and plenty of endurance. My one recommendation is that as you buy their tools, be aware of the battery included if you buy a kit. They still sell some tools with the 2nd generation batteries which do not have the “fuel gauge” power level indicator. This feature is available on their 3rd generation batteries which are now included in some kits and can be purchased separately. Knowing the charge status of a battery prior to using a tool is a huge improvement! ... show more

I HAVE THE EGO (LEAF BLOWER) AND LOVE IT FOR ITS POWER AND LONG BATTERY LIFE! I HAD THE BATTERY ALREADY FROM (MY BLOWER) WHEN I BOUGHT THE WEED WACKER SO I WAS READY TO PLUG IT IN SINCE ONE EGO BATTERY FITS ALL! THE BUILD QUALITY FOR EGO PRODUCTS IS (FIRST RATE) AND THEY COST A LOT MORE BUT AS THE SAYING GOES YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I AM (71 YEARS OLD) AND HAD TROUBLE GETTING USED TO ITS WEIGHT, LENGTH, AND POWER AT FIRST! IT IS A BEAST AND THE LINE IS REAL THICK SO YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFULL NOT TO HIT ANY BODY PART OR SERIOUS DAMAGE WILL OCCUR! IT WILL CUT DOWN SMALL,THICK BRUSH (TREES, BUSHES) AS WELL AS GRASS!     • Power string loader failed twice
I purchased my first Ego Power+ in September, it has lots of power, the string lasted a long time and the bump feeder worked great. When I went to reload the string with the power loader, it just kept making a loud clicking noise and the head actually started smoking. I was able to return the trimmer and received a replacement. After using the second trimmer for a few months, I noticed the bump feeder quit working. I assumed the string was tangled or caught up inside the trimmer head so I pulled the string out with no problem. I went to put in new string and the loader started making the same loud clicking noise and would not load the string. I called Ego about the problem and they told me the trimmer head is an accessory and not covered under warranty. I said, “do you know how ridiculous that sounds that the trimmer head is considered an accessory?” The assistant on the phone was very nice, but not helpful, her solution was for me to buy a new trimmer head for around $60. The automatic loader is a great idea, but they need to fix the loading problem or quit selling this product until they can get the main feature of this trimmer fixed. They also need to step up and fix or replace these trimmer heads under warranty. ... show more

    • My Best EGO Tool Yet!
I love this thing! My last string trimmer was a plug-in, which meant dragging fifty feet of heavy cable all over the yard that had a propensity for disconnecting if I tugged too hard. Now, with a 5 AH battery supplying the power, I have complete freedom of movement, which translates to far less time getting the job done. Is it heavy? Yes, a bit more than my previous trimmer, but it's well-balanced, and, besides, if you buy the optional shoulder strap (I recommend it), it's actually quite easy to handle. As far as performance goes, this trimmer is plenty powerful, and cuts through just about any tall grass or weeds I can throw at it without a problem. Last, but certainly not least, is the trimmer's POWERLOAD. This great feature makes loading fresh string a snap, completely eliminating the old, awkward and very annoying process of disassembling, winding, and then reassembling the trimmer head. As to the price: EGO products are not cheap, but they're sturdy and well-constructed, and should last a long time. I'd say they're well worth the expense. ... show more
