The batteries work great while new but the degradation seems to be fairly high in year 2 and 3 before stabilizing. Some of this may be down to using the batteries a lot as the growing season is nearly 12 months where I live. I wish EGO would find a way to drop the price of the batteries as they are currently still too expensive; especially when you look at how many standard cylindrical cells are inside of the casing. ... show more

As my existing batteries for my EGO tools get used over time, they inevitably lose their charge and I grumble at the thought of paying for a new expensive battery. Sitting between the 5.0 and 2.5 Ah batteries, the 4.0 Ah model is a great secondary battery. It’s the best of both worlds: great for the mower while the 5.0 Ah is recharging and great as an extended battery for the multi-head, trimmer, or blower without the hefty weight attaching the 5.0 Ah battery. Purchased this EGO Power+ BA2242T 56-Volt 4.0Ah Upgraded Fuel Gauge Battery during an Amazon deal. I have three EGO tools (leaf blower, hedge trimmer, and weed trimmer). All my tools came with the 2.5 ah batteries and I swap these between tools as needed to complete work while recharging. Have to say he the 4ah battery is nice to have from a duration standpoint, but darn heavy compared to the 2.5 ah units. ... show more

In less than a year the battery would not charge more than 40% as shown on battery fuel gauge. I contacted Ego Support, and they confirmed that the battery is faulty. I applied for a replacement battery under warranty and Ego initially approved the replacement pending submittal of my Amazon receipt. Ego determined based on examination of the receipt that the battery was sold through Amazon by an unauthorized dealer (Angelville Trading Company) and therefore the warranty is void.
