  • Works as well as my 21" gas mower
Style: 21" Mower w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
I've only used it with the mulching blade and the 7.5ah battery. My lawn is the average 100 year old suburban lot. My guess is about 1500sf of grass. It mulches better than my 21" gas mulcher. It is lighter but not by much. It is easier to maneuver. It is much quieter, easier to start and no gas or exhaust smell(big benefit for me). Battery life varies greatly. I've always been able to do the whole lawn on a single charge. When the grass is very long and wet with using the self propel that's all you get from it. When I'm cutting about an inch(normal for me), it is dry and I don't need the self propel only about 20% of the battery is used. Charging the battery from dead with the supplied charger takes an hour. The cost of an EGO 7.5 battery is $400 or $180 for an after market. Not sure how long it will last, guessing about 5 years. The cost of gas and oil /year is about $10 if you do the maintenance yourself. This may not be the money smart move but I'm looking at the other perks. ... show more

  • Happy with purchase
Style: 21" Mower w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
I am happy with the purchase. The lawnmower is quiet. The chickens actually follow me around waiting for grasshoppers to be disturbed. They would not be anywhere near the gas mower. It is powerful enough to cut the thick coastal grass and mulch. I am happy with it. The battery does get drained fast. It is good to have a second battery to charge while you are using one. The battery charger will charge up the battery quickly so you can consider it the mandatory break time. I like that it stores vertically. Without the battery, the mower is still a bit heavy but manageable. The way the handle folds is very nice and sturdy. This mower is well thought out. ... show more

  • Great powerful beast
Style: 21" Mower w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
Machines works really well cutting grass evenly and precisely, leaving you a clean, evenly cut throughout the grass field in your backyard. The handle bars are very sturdy and snaps on and off easily and precisely, Almost all of the grass trimmings are collected in the net basket. There's virtually no hassle in trying to sweep the grass trimmings after cutting. The battery is very big and heavy but powerful and charges really quick, about 30-50 min should get you a full charge. The speed of the self-propelled is adjustable so you can push forward effortlessly since the mower moves forward by itself. The mower also comes with two extra blades for different modes of grass cutting. I didn't try them, so I can't tell you how well it is. ... show more

  • Not perfect, but better than gas
Style: 21" Mower w/10.0Ah Battery, Select Cut
I have an EGO leaf blower and line trimmer, and like their products. My new lawn mower is no exception. This thing really does have power, stronger than my past few gas mowers (Craftsman). More than enough for dry, heavy (but not crazy) grass. It definitely made full width cuts at normal speed in sections that always get really heavy on my lawn that used to make me take half width cuts with my gas mower so it wouldn't die out or make me stop until it got back to speed. It is just SO much easier to just press a button and go, and a LOT less dramatic cutting the lawn without all the noise and vibration. I wouldn't go so far as to say it makes it fun, but it is a lot better than it used to be. It does a nice job cutting the lawn and leaves it looking great. I also like the easily adjustable variable speed, and especially like the fact that you can use the self-propelled feature without having the blades spinning. A feature I never would have thought of, but it sure comes in handy when traveling across a street or driveway, running over debris, or just getting to your starting point - or back to the garage. The only thing that would make this better, would be more battery life. My yard is not all that big, and I have the 10-amp battery, but it was not able to finish the whole thing. I did have some heavy grass, so was dipping into the 'extra power' on numerous occasions. I also am using it as a mulcher which cuts battery life a lot, and also used the self-propelled mode just about 100% of the time. I have more batteries, so it was not a problem, but it would have been cool if I could bring a second battery along with me instead of going back to the garage and getting another. The batteries DO charge up pretty quickly, especially with the Turbo charger, so I feel you could pretty much go non-stop with 3 (or even 2 with more efficient mowing techniques) batteries. My other negative comment has to do with backing up after propelling forward, especially if you are going back and forth in an area. Occasionally it would lock the wheels, and I would tap the throttle quickly to let it freely roll backward. I admit that could be operator error, or at least education, so I don't count it as too much of a flaw. None of that matters much though, when you push a button and go cut your lawn, in a relaxed, much quieter environment. No filling gas cans, changing oil, fowling plugs, clogging air filters, etc. Sure, I'd like it to be even better, but it is already at the top of electric mowers, which have, or will, revolutionize how we mow our lawns. ... show more

  • Impressive!
Style: 21" Mower w/10.0Ah Battery, Select Cut
This was my first experience with a powerful battery powered piece of equipment so I was a tad skeptical that it would be as powerful as a gas mower. But shockingly it was equal and a tad better at self propelling. PROs - pretty much pre-assembled - just a few adjustments and putting on the output shoot - battery charged faster than others I’ve owned and extra battery that came with the promotion ensured we had plenty for our 3/4+ acre lawn - the original battery lasted for the majority of the lawn and stayed strong. Used extra one at the very end - amazingly easy to start compared to combustion engines. I have always encountered trouble with starting the engine on first try but this was a breeze. I’d buy it again just for that (and no gas/oil mix). - should be much lower maintenance if taken care of (I have a small electric weed wackier and it has sun perfectly several years so far. PRO/CON - The self-propelled was was powerful - but almost too much for a small person. When I first tried it, I felt like an owner being “walked” by their large dog. It pulled me along almost jogging. Since then o have reserved using it only for inclines for which it is perfect CONs - it’s heavy. Which is good as it keeps low to the ground when mowing but though it fold up easily, it’s heavy when carrying it into the shed. The instructions say it shouldn’t be left outside. - worked slightly less well on a longer patch that hadn’t yet been mowed. Had to go over it twice. But never had to do that again as works well in subsequent mows. ... show more
