Like other EGO products, the EGO electric chainsaw is great. I bought a 14 inch chainsaw a few years ago and it worked great--5 stars. I felled and bucked up numerous trees a foot or more in diameter. The batteries don't last as long as gas but the ease of use and convenience is worth it if you're willing to invest in an extra battery. I wanted a larger model so I just bought the 18inch. It has a new auto-tensioning system whcih serves a dual use of both tightening the chain and attaching the side plate. It's supposed to be easy but I couldn't get it to work properly. Not sure if I got a defective one or was doing something wrong. Either way I like the old system better. I returned the 18inch and for now will make do with the smaller model. ... show more

Absolutely Blown away by this saw! My gas saws just got put out to pasture. Firstly I’ve been skeptical about electric saws. I have an EGo trimmer and hedge clippers and liked them but waited to pull the trigger on a saw. Just always felt like battery life and power wouldn’t be enough for semi-serious tree cutting I do. I also have the Milwaukee system for my power tools so I went back and forth on which of their saws to get. So glad I got the EGo. (Much cheaper as well). The 5ah battery is heavy. Real heavy. I’d venture to say the saw with that battery is heavier than a comparable gas saw. But it does give the saw a feeling of a real tool holding it. It doesn’t feel like a little plastic toy. It feels substantial. Probably not great for someone older or women, cause it’s got some heft. But boy does it last! My back hurt and I gave up long before the battery did! I felled a 30’ maple, trunk about 20” thick at the base and cut it all into logs and the battery still had a long way to go. I’m blown away. Another beautiful thing is it’s ready to go out of the box. Fully assembled, Chain is installed. Fill it with oil, charge the battery, and your cutting. It’s that easy. I just love that. No fuss. The blade is sharp as can be. And lasts a long time. I really have nothing bad to say about this saw. I’m a believer. The nice thing about this saw is you can be outside at 6am on sat cutting and you won’t bother any neighbors or wake them kids. Likewise, when it gets dark, you can keep cutting and not bother anything. It just has a whizzz sound. No loud gas saw screaming and upsetting everyone. You can start working earlier and stay working later to get a job done. In a city or tight residential area, this thing would be Golden. The knob on the side to tighten the blade is also a genius idea. I hated on my gas saws carrying the little tool along to loosen the bolts and tighten the chain and then tighten the bolts again. Wasted time. This just has a knob on the side. Turn it and boom the blade is tighter or looser whatever you need. Smart design. If I had to guess I’d say you can get 3-4hrs of solid working out of the battery. Not holding the trigger constantly, but just using it like you’d normally use a saw to take down a tree, limb it, and cut it up it’ll last about 3-4hours. Of course it depends what your cutting and there are a lot of variables but that’s about what I’m seeing. So really if you got an additional 5ah battery, you could cut a full 8hr day with it. Not sure what all the heavy comments are about, I am tired of hearing it as a complain... This saw has weight yes, too much not at all. Lift some weights or some time. The battery attaches in a way that just helps balance out the saw. I am 61 I have no issue with the weight of this saw. Now to other things it cuts well being electric with such torque it cuts better to me than gas powered saws. Gas engine must build speed to get the torque. Electric motors have better torque. This saw cuts with less bogging down then gas. My EGO trimmer has great torque. I was trimming heave weeds this week and it does not drop speed it just kept cutting smoothly. The batteries last a good while in the saw also, it is impressive to have that much power and a charge lasts like it does. ... show more

True power of a gas saw of similar size bar, 16". Love being able to just plug in the battery, pull the trigger and go! So much easier than screwing around with getting one of my gas saws to start up. In fact, I recently just gave away both of my gas saws. No muss no fuss and much quieter! So far, a real winner and a very well thought out design and great build quality. Though keep in mind this is for around the home use. This is not a commercial grade saw, which I believe EGO does make. This model, CS1613 16-Inch, isn't one of those, but perfectly at home with residential level uses. ... show more

Highly recommended. I purchased this saw because I don't love the maintenance required for gas engines and because I purchased a Dewalt 20V that didn't work (felt like I was trying to cut trees with a butter knife). This saw is more like cutting butter with a butter knife. On the first go around, I quickly took care of a set of fallen trees. The chainsaw made cuts as well as my prior gas versions. It did it quietly and with no fuss. Since you don't need to keep the engine running between cuts, I also found that the battery life was sufficient. By the time the battery ran out, I had enough debris to clear, that I could recharge while cleaning out the cut materials. ... show more

This CS1804 is a complete package and love the power is has. I added the PowerSharp (541662) and works great and uses a little less battery life. Definitely a must to have extra battery for chainsaw. I bought a Weed Trimmer and Blower Kit with Charger and 5.0 Ah batteries so I have 3 batteries to use. The Weed Trimmer and Blower are awesome tools as well. I was spectacle about buying Ego tools at first but after using them I'm impressed with them all. Also recommend browsing for videos on the Ego tool your looking at. ... show more

It is very nice battery powered chainsaw. I used it on at least 50 trees so far and no issues. I’m definitely happy with my purchase. I got chainsaw sharpener from HF and with two chains I completed all my projects so far.
