To start off, I’m the kind of person that will spend MONTHS researching product, reading reviews, watching videos, and comparing products before I make a purchase. I was in the market for a rower, but I couldn’t afford to spend more than a few hundred dollars on one. I started my search on the local used markets with little to no luck. Then I saw that there were a few options on Amazon and thus began my search. In summary, most complains on magnetic resistance rowers were due to low resistance. Therefore, I decided to get either an air resistant or water resistant rower. That way, you have a physical resistance rather than simulated. The air resistant machines are good in the fact that they usually have a chain. Less prone to strap rips or misalignment. However, they tend to be louder so I decided to go with water rower. After reading most reviews on this rower, I decided to give it a shot. Throughout the assembly process, I was constantly looking for reasons on why I should return it. There were a few times I thought I found good reasons (more on that later), but I was always proved wrong. The machine is very sturdy and well built. The water resistance alone is enough to get you sweating (currently have water resistance at 4/6). I’m a fairly active guy and I was sweating after 5 minutes with no added magnetic resistance. The water sound is very soothing and fulfilling. HEADS UP: There were a few times when I thought frame didn’t align well with screw holes. I was even thinking about returning it because I thought it was Mal manufactured. However, if you change the positioning or try to tighten bolts from another end, they eventually line up really well. CON: The strap sits on a pulley system. Therefore, you can only row in a straight line. I tried to do side rows and it instantly came off track. It was an easy fix to get it back on track.

The rower is great. Careful not to let handle go free or you may have to reseat the strap back on pulleys. If your device is not registering miles or strokes your magnet reader is probably just out of position. It has a two pronged sensor on port side of lower wheel. Just reposition it (turn sensor) as close to the wheel with the magnet as possible and check for changing reading. The model I got had bluetooth which can connect to some other apps in theory but not all. I wanted to get it to show the water apps on the big TV. So, if you have an iPhone look at the pictures above. Swipe down from the upper right corner to bring up control screen then click on screen mirroring shown with blue marker. If your Roku or other stream capable device shows up click on it. and WHAM giant water rowing via screen mirroring your app of choice. You need both iphone and smart TV/ Roku to be on the same network and on. You may have to play around with the app to connect the blue tooth to your rower to get data. As for the rower. It is heavy duty and very functional. The rubber stopper that stops rear movement at max broke off from my kid sliding around on it. But it just hits metal seat to metal bar now if you go to far. I will put a pad there or something. You shouldn't be going that far back rowing anyway. Make sure you put the included crystals in the water or something else so you don't grow slime. It is pretty heavy when full. Enjoy.

Very sturdy and smooth operation. It will pair with a Fire 8" tablet (had an extra). If you side load KinoMap, you can use all the features by telling it this machine is a similar (same) machine as the Mer*** R06 rower. If you look, they both have the same exact control knob. With this app, you can setup or use an existing workout session with varying resistance - and when training, it will adjust the magnetic resistance based upon the intervals in the workout session. There are probably other apps with similar features that will work with this rower. I tried a few and ended up with KinoMap. I do plan to go to a larger screen. Right now, this combo works perfectly and gives me the features of a much more expensive rower.

Updated review: I am updating my review of this rowing machine. I wasn't able to open the package and set up the machine immediately after delivery and I was outside of the return period. However, this company was extremely responsive to my initial complaints and in making sure my issues got resolved. I can appreciate a company that cares about it's brand and customers enough to make sure all issues are brought to a positive resolution. I purchased this rowing machine in Dec 2022 however opened the box and put it together July 2023 after getting my workout room in my home fully together. Upon opening the item, noticed screws and other small pieces rattling around freely in the box which appeared to have been from a small packet that was unsealed where the screws should have been. It was like someone took them out and unsuccessfully tried to shove them back in the packet. The other packet with small pieces had the shrink wrap completely missing and whoever returned it just wrapped the pieces in packing tape attached to a piece of cardboard. There was also a large, very visible scratch along the side of the flywheel or main portion where the brand name is. After getting it put together and testing it out, the machine cut out after a few minutes and started over. Did the same thing the following day. I'm disappointed that I received what appears to be a used, faulty item after paying for it brand new.

The instructions were helpful. It didn't take long to have it running. Mostly put together already so that's awesome. This thing is quiet!!! Within 10 minutes I'm sweating up a storm. The foot holds are ok, you do have to wear shoes for the straps to work as they are made to. Overall, I'm impressed. Worth the cost and I'm glad I purchased it. I live in a climate where it's rainy most of the year and this will come in very handy. I did find a random screw loose on the box, but it doesn't seem to go to the machine itself so I'm not sure what's up with that. The monitor works good too.
