Features

  • DUAL DIRECTION TINES: Counter Rotating Tine (CRT) mode tears through tough soil and stubborn clay perfect for starting new gardens, while Standard Rotating Tine (SRT) mode is ideal for weeding or maintaining existing gardens and leaves behind a smooth, fluffy seed bed ready for planting.
  • LIGHT, BALANCED CONTROL: At just 143 lbs., the Pioneer offers unmatched maneuverability compared to heavier 200-lb. models. Its lower, wider body and forward-facing engine deliver natural front-to-back and side-to-side stability, without the need for counterbalance weights. This eliminates the tippy and top-heavy feel common in other offset engine and transmission designs.
  • TILL WITH CONFIDENCE: A 127cc, 4-cycle Briggs & Stratton engine is paired with a patented ultra-efficient transmission. This creates an optimized powertrain that delivers the same sod-busting performance of larger tillers but in a more user-friendly package, letting you master every row of your garden with ease.
  • INSTANT REVERSE: Back up with ease by just pulling a handle. Turn around in tight spots or along fences without stopping or shifting gears and effortlessly tackle every corner of your garden.
  • NEVER-FLAT, ROBUST TIRES: Airless, rubber tires with steel rims create a solid design that eliminates the risk of punctures and air loss. The extra-wide and aggressive tread blocks claw their way through dirt providing maximum traction.
  • VERSATILE CONTROL AND FINISH: Enjoy comfortable 2- or 1-handed operation from either side of the tiller to keep your footprints out of the seed bed, paired with a 3-position adjustable handlebar for the perfect working height, while the trailing rear shield smooths and shapes the soil into a clean, ready-to-plant finish.
  • GUARANTEE: Backed by an industry leading 5-Year Limited Product Warranty and 2-Year Limited Engine Warranty and a U.S.-based customer support team the Pioneer Dual Direction Rear Tine Tiller will perform for years to come.

  • If you have the money get it
I kept using older models or borrowing someone else’s. I would not say I am an expert with these but I’ve used many types. I would say this has been the easiest one I have used. Other ones I would have to lock the tires and muscle around to turn. The balance on this one is just right. Im not a big person and I could turn this one with one hand at the lowest depth. I did have to take the plastics all off to fix the wiring path so the tires didn’t rub on them. Also I couldn’t tell if the tires were labeled for which side they need to be on but for me I noticed they do fit better depending on which side you installed them on. ... show more

  • Poor instructions
I just put it together, it appears to be a really good tiller, much better than the craftsman I bought in the spring. My only problem was the instructions were not good. I figured it out. I had a problem getting it to change gears until I looked online and it recommended rolling it forward which worked great. I'm going to till up some sod tomorrow and will get back with the results ... show more

  • Can't find parts when needed.
Tiller works well. The start of my 3rd gardening season my drive belt shredded. I thought simple order one. It's been a month and I've still not gotten a belt. Places are sold out or don't carry that kind of belt. Simply put good luck finding parts for it.

  • Quality and ease of use
I was hesitant, use to seeing more popular brands. I must say this rototillar has not disappointed me! I have only used it once and now I brag about it. The reverse is awesome!!

  • This is the best tiller we have ever used. This is the best tiller we have ever used.
This is an excellent tiller that is easy to use. The outstanding feature is the reverse lever that gives you instant reverse. This feature makes this tiller so much easier to maneuver within our garden beds. The tiller has a 17 inch cut path and 11inch till depth. The 127cc Briggs and Stratton engine runs very quietly and has plenty of power. Starting is easy, just flip the power switch on the handle bars, set the manual choke and set the throttle about half way. It starts the first or second pull every time. I love how easy this is to start. The solid wheels and tires are also a great feature. No more flat tires in the middle of tilling a garden bed. The tiller comes in one big box. It is easy to assemble. You open the top of the box, remove the loose parts instructions, bolts, guard and bottle of oil. Then close it and turn the box upside down. Pull the packing away from the wheels and remove the wheels. Install the bottom guard then attach the wheels. Now you can roll it sideways, remove the packaging and stand it on its wheels. The rest of the assembly is easy. Note when attaching the handlebar bolts there are three positions high, middle and low. The position you choose depends on how tall you are. You can easily remove the bolt in the field and lower the handlebars if needed. The tiller has 4 operating Modes. SRT mode is used for already tilled, final till on the garden bed. DRIVE mode is used for powered forward motion with no tines spinning. CRT mode is for fresh ground hard dirt tines spin in opposite directions to the wheels. NEUTRAL mode is for storage or for transporting. the tines are disengaged from the engine. We also purchased the hiller-furrower kit to make raised garden beds. This tiller/hiller combo has cut our time spent making garden beds in half. We are so happy with it and look forward to making new garden beds because it is now so much easier to do. We just broke ground on a new garden this year and was looking for a good tiller to do the job and we made the best buy ever purchasing this tiller. After breaking the ground we went the opposite way and we were able to do it with one hand. Easy to use, was easy to start and did the job we wanted done.
