I’m getting old and we just went from carpet to flooring so this vacuum has been perfect for me. It’s not too heavy and yet does an excellent job of flooring and furniture. I use maximum strength on the carpet we do have and it works great for that but does use up the battery faster.

This is my second Dyson in a different home; my first is a V6 that still works like new. I have tried all other vacuums; if you have dogs, nothing compares to Dyson's performance. I also have robots, but robots take a while to clean and need babysitting. With the Dyson, it is quick and easy. Do not waste your money; go for what works. As mentioned before, this is my second one, but the V6 I previously purchased is 10 years old, and I have replaced the battery once. This particular version has an exceptional attachment for hair removal that will remove even the most stubborn hair from surfaces. I carry my dog in the back of my car, and the hair sticks to the carpeted walls. I used this attachment to clean the wall as if I were cleaning a bare floor. The vacuum will not disappoint you. I can also use regular deodorant tablets on the filter to prevent foul odors. ... show more

I really love my Dyson. But two glaring mistakes stick out with this one. First, the battery dies FAST! We thought it was too fast and even had Dyson send us a replacement- nope. Just dies fast is all. You'll get about 30 minutes on reg power and about 15 on high. Then, it takes like 3 hours to charge. Second? The design of the wall hanger is weird. Every time we hang up to charge we have to really give it a good push and it's gotten to the point that tie cord is now permanently bent. Hopefully we dont meed to replace in a year. Other than that, the suction is SUPERIOR to anything else on the market, which is I guess what we pay for. So, I'm still happy I bought it, but a longer battery life and less charging time would definitely be helpful. ... show more

It barely lasted 2 yrs. since date of purchase. We have tile floors and some area low profile area rugs, thickness 1/4" pile. It worked on the tile just fine and being cordless was great but the first time we used it on one of our rugs it struggled so we kept it for tile only and used our corded vacuum for the rugs. Didn't want to burn the unit up. Yesterday I went to use it and after 30 seconds it automatically shuts off, it's a overheating function that triggers the unit to shut down. Its not even hot to the touch. It's just the 2 of us at the house and we don't have any pets. As for the filters we always empty after use regardless if needed, we maintain and take care of our stuff. What's to overheat on bare tile! Wait 2-3 mins and it starts back up then shuts down again after 30 seconds. Even if you leave it overnight it still shuts down after 30 seconds of use. This product wasn't cheap, very disappointed in Dyson. They advertise how well made there product is but forget to mention it barely lasts 2 yrs. Yes its possible we got a defective unit but you would think if it lasted this long its way past the break-in period and would have broke a lot sooner. If you over use any product and make it strain to operate it can overheat and burn up the circuit board within, but not on bare tile floors or similar. This product definitely had issues operating properly on low profile area rugs. Using on rugs is not advised, vacuum works to hard and strains the motor. It probably would have quit working much sooner with continued use on rugs. I would not recommend this product, there are cheaper ones that last probably the same amount of time or possibly longer at a cheaper price, I'll never purchase a Dyson product ever again, buyer beware. ... show more

I purchased this vacuum for my hair salon. I was looking for a cordless option, lightweight, and very powerful. I've had this vacuum for just over a month and here's the pros and cons. Pros. It REALLY sucks. It has a great suction to it, making vacuuming up rouge hair and dirt almost addictive. I like how it comes apart to empty the dust collection, and I really think it's designed to be lightweight- although I'll come back to that in the cons. I love the option to hang it on the wall for storage and charging(this is NOT a free standing vacuum)- will circle back to that in the cons as well! .It comes with 3 different attachment that are easy to change. They are on the smaller side, but honestly I like them for vacuuming out the furnace vent cover, or getting hair out of the salon chairs/dryer chairs. I also like to use it for a quick vacuum in the vehicles when they are looking gross. Now for the Cons. The biggest, most frustrating part of this vacuum is the dang battery life. Upon initial purchase, I fully charged the vacuum. I was very patient with making sure it was charged so I could get an idea of battery life. Boy was I so disappointed. The battery barely lasted for 1/4th of the salon. And I'm not vacuuming up piles of hair. This is for once a week use, maybe touchup on the waiting area use. I'm not dilly dallying around vacuuming. Ixm there to clean and move on woth my lifem The original battery is terrible. Fortunately they make battery adapters for RIDGED and Ryobi batteries. I purchased one for the RIDGED off of Ebay. With that i still have to use a HuGE battery for it, which adds to the weight, and now with the new battery adaptor it will not hang on the cute charging/storage hanger. The trigger is also one that has to be manually held, so their is some fatigue after doing the entire salon. With all of this being said, I do love it (with the adapter and large battery) for the salon. I LOVE MY DYSON! I avoided buying one for so long because I thought it was too expensive. Plus, when Dyson vacuums came out, they were quite the trendy item to get. I bought this one from the Amazon Warehouse, like-new with an excellent price for me. First thing, when I vacuumed my carpet I noticed the fine dust particles in the canister. The vacuum was REALLY suctioning up the dirt!!! It's lightweight and easy to manage, the accessories are very versatile to use for using near the ceiling (spider webs), or under my bed. LOVE it that the joints allow the long beater brush attachment to extend under the bed. That's a solid winner for me! It's portable, small footprint (tucks away in a small closet), and the motor easily adapts for vacuuming the car too. So far the battery is holding the charge pretty well after extensive use. This is my second one. My first one lasted me twenty years. Great suction, but the battery eventually kicked the bucket. This tool is NOT optional. I would never compromise with a cheap knock-off. The Dyson is worth every penny.
