I purchased the AM09 Fan Heater in November 2015 for use as a heater in the lower entry way and adjoining laundry room of my home. I had been using a space heater in each area to keep the chill away and wanted to replace each with something more energy efficient. I have had a Dyson vacuum for years that I absolutely love and decided to give the AM09 a try. It serviced both areas quite well and contributed to lower electric costs.     • A perfect, if expensive, solution. But then it's not really too expensive if it works!
I bought this for use in an office setting where I have no control over the thermostat, but because I have two outside walls and my suite mates have one or none, my office was typically ten degrees cooler in the winter. If I turned up the thermostat to make me comfortable, my mates were sweating. I've tried two other space heaters with no real success, as they either got too hot to touch (oil radiator) or only heated a small area (conventional heater fan). So, while I know the Dyson is hideously expensive, I decided to try it. I regret not having done so sooner. First of all, this is a genuine Dyson product. The item arrived quickly, and I was excited to have received it, until I plugged it in and turned it on. The unit seemed to work just fine, except there was a loud 'crackling' noise. I turned it off and called Dyson. Dyson broke my heart when they told me that the seller of this unit is not an authorized seller of Dyson products. Dyson then told me that since I purchased the unit from an unauthorized seller, that the warranty is invalid. Oh no, a $500 brick! I immediately made arrangements to return the unit to Amazon. Love this fan.Works very well and it's great that there are no fins, so very little noise. Had one little inexplicable glitch. Was watching tv the other night and the fan came on by itself. The remote was sitting on top of the unit and no one touched it! Has only done it once and has been quiet ever since. We are using it now because as I write this our AC has quit! I like and dislike this product. It has good heat output and the fan only function works fine. It also looks good. The first one I had was defective and suffered an electrical failure. Amazon replaced it because Amazon is the best. This thing is pretty expensive for what it is and you're paying the premium for the Dyson name. This thing is a power hog! My electric bill noticeably increased after using this products heat feature for a month. ... show more

This fan has been a lifesaver in the summer heat! It's powerful enough to keep me cool at night and quiet enough not to keep me awake. I like the bladeless design so it's safe around kids (and adults!), and the remote has been really convenient to use from bed.     • cool air coming from the unit after it reached the ...
The operating Manuel is a slick, very professional product, but for me it failed in step by step ways to operate the machine. Also, many of the markings on the remote are black on black making them very difficult to use. When I had (have) problems with, (1), cool air coming from the unit after it reached the target temperature and, (2), at night I would periodically get cool air blowing at me, Unfortunately, their only answer was when the unit is in heat mode it cannot emit cold air, Not very helpful while I'm having the above problems. By trial and error, I found that when the room temp drops below the target temp the AM09 will blow cool air for about 40 seconds until the heating elements kicks in and warm air begins, Perhaps this explains no. two. Now I admit that I am an old man of 91 years and am not as acute as I used to be, but age does not keep me from experiencing the events described above. I am still annoyed at being told that what was happening was not possible. Now that I have filled in some gaps in the manual the heater is working quite well. It seems to be very good at maintaining my desired temp. And it certainly is an attractive addition to my room, If it were not for the cool air and the deficient customer relations it would rate much higher. ... show more

    • Where has this fan been all of my life?!
It gets below freezing at night so I decided to buy this fan to heat my room and not have to heat the entire house. This fan is so quiet, yet very efficient. The heat goes from 70 to 99 derees, has 10 speeds, it oscillates, has a remote w/built-in magnetic storage on top of the fan, plus it shuts off when the room reaches the desired temperature and starts automatically when the temperature drops below desired temperature.
