Description

Hi-fi starts with Emit. Emit 10 is a compact two-way stand-mount speaker that uses technology derived from Dynaudio's ultra-high-end Confidence Contour i and Evoke series. It's the ideal model for smaller rooms and satellite channels in a home cinema system. Designed and engineered at Dynaudio Labs in Denmark Emit 10 has been developed and tuned by the same minds behind their award-winning high-end families - right down to the smallest detail. Under the hood you'll find a 14cm MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) mid-bass unit. MSP is a material Dynaudio developed themselves and has been using for decades. It provides exactly the right combination of lightness stiffness and damping for super-fine control without loss of power - essential when a driver is reproducing both low-bass and crucial midrange frequencies. Legendary Engineering Emit 10's mid/bass driver is derived from the Esotec+ in the successful Evoke series. Its double magnet system gives better movement control and sensitivity which means you'll hear improved frequency response and dynamics at lower frequencies while retaining crystal-clear midrange performance. That means you'll hear what you want from a powerful rhythm section plus guitars vocals and more - all without distortion at louder volumes. You'll notice that the dust cap isn't simply glued on. It's part of the playing surface of the cone. The little dashed line around the edge - the balance rib structure - is bonded directly to the 38mm voice coil behind it. It's an incredibly strong connection with the motor which means more of the coil's motion energy is transferred to the diaphragm. Behind the cone The voice-coil itself is made of copper-clad aluminum wire. Aluminum is light which gives the driver a fleetness of foot you might not find elsewhere while the copper coating increases conductivity for more power. It's a winning combination of detail and punch. A high-quality double ferrite magnet system provides the

  • Moments of good, then it sounds worse
Color: White
This speaker does add weight to notes and that is something I was looking for. However, while it has moments which sound right, or good at least, alot of information is obscured. I know people like a warmer speaker but it goes between warm and bright, obscurred details and then it presents something unexpected, etc. It's like a speaker that can be likened to the sein-feld episode of the two face episode. Don't know how else to describe it. While the bass was supposedly tightened up from the previous model, it more gets in the way than it lends support. Details that are needed in the upper mids and treble which are needed for notes to sound more alive are so obscurred or gone. Piano while weighty, sounded unnatural to me. Sometimes female voices would sound really nice and sometimes not. Male voices seemed good. The stage was flatter than I hoped but not completely 2D. I think I liked listening to it from an adjacent room as opposed to between the speakers. A very strange speaker experience. Burn in time was sufficient and it was on an upscale amp. As to the construction, it was a relatively heavier speaker probably due to the double magnet construction. Giving a knuckle test to the walls it seemed kind of hollow sounding and not damped or braced enough. The matte finish was very white and looked relatively cheap. On a positive, the speaker connections were really nice and took the entire plug. Overall, kind of disappointing. I know there are many users who have totally opposite opinions and that speakers can sound better as you move up the line but that's mine. Stage was large enough but nothing to write home about, just average. Sibilant passages where decently controlled but it wasn't completely free of glare depending on the material played. My far less expensive speakers were more enjoyable as they do more right without the sins of omission, other than deep bass...but that's almost all small standmounts. ... show more
