I bought this sauna in the spring of 2020 as a gift to myself for quarantining with my toddler while my husband was a frontline healthcare worker. I have used it consistently for 5 years, more in the winter than the summer, but multiple times a week on average. It works, it’s durable, and it’s amazing. It gets hot enough to sweat in the max time/temp, but on extra cold days I might stay in 5-10 minutes longer to really sweat. It’s lightweight and Mobile, folds up easy to transport, and is easily cleaned. I can’t say enough how much I love this product! ... show more

  • Perfect Sauna option for what I wanted and needed! Perfect Sauna option for what I wanted and needed!
I had owned a stand-alone FAR infrared (cedar) sauna for several years. It got almost daily use in my home, and lasted for about 7 years... until the day that it didn't. It was a real bummer when 2 of the heaters went out and couldn't be replaced or fixed. Coincidentally, we would be moving soon, and wouldn't have room for a large cedar unit in our new house. So for about 4 years I did without. 😔 Then - last year - i disovered Sauna Tents! 😁👍 Last year I bought a small, cheap tent, just to try it out. I didn't think I'd like my head sticking out, though; my face and scalp not getting the same benefit my body would be getting. Still, it was worth a try. Turned out, I really enjoyed this sauna-tent idea! The heat was great! And that old feeling I had grown to love - being sweat soaked, my skin's pores completely purged, and my muscles totally pliable and wrung out - I was able to get in this tent! However, I became concerned about high EMFs (essentially getting 'microwaved) and I didn't like that my head and face weren't in the sauna. In my old cedar unit, my face was always so soft - my pores tight - after several days in a row of long sauna use. I wanted to find something I could fit my entire 5'2" frame into - head and all. I began my search and found the Durherm Sauna Tent. It had excellent reviews, and i read that some people were able to sit their whole body in them! PLUS, it had the lowest EMFs I could find for a price that I could afford. It took me a little while to save $ for it, but I received it a couple of weeks ago and have been in it (for at least 40-45 mins) nearly every day since it arrived. I tried sitting on the floor crosslegged like several reviewers mentioned. But I found my back wasn't comfortable, and my legs felt cramped. After much trial and error (pillows, stacked towels, a short wooden stool), I ended up finding a back-rest SEAT used for sitting on bleachers (Walmart for $6 on sale). I don't show my complete set up in the picture posted, but what I do is wrap a bed pillow in a beach towel for the seat, and I lay another beach towel over the whole thing, to guard against hot metal on the chair. I zip the tent almost all the way up, place a long, thin, heavy cushion (what I use when working out on the floor) on the top to block the opening better, and then I clip the very top flaps of the zippered pieces open a smidge, so that i can see out of the little peep-hole I'd created. Then i grab my water, put on a good program (am currently watching a Jane Eyre series) and watch TV while I roast. I love it! I love that I can also fold the whole thing up (after it's cooled) and in mere minutes stow it away in the closet. My ONLY "con" so far is that I feel when I crank it up to 140 (the highest setting), i dont *think* it's really reaching 140 degrees. I need to test that. I'm also a little wary that after a few months of use that, like others have stated, it will stop working. But I'm gonna try and not jinx myself. One BIG Pro - the low EMFs. I haven't measured it myself, but the review of the gal doing so won me over. Overall a really good investment. Not what I was used to using, but a reasonably priced option that's also a great space saver! I'm so happy I bought it! ... show more

  • Great sauna!
I just received this sauna last week and it shipped faster then I was expecting and I appreciated that! But my five stars is for this sauna and how well it works.. I have been in a few different far infrared saunas ranging from $1000 one person.. to a four person wood far infrared sauna top of the line! This sauna does works the same with the only difference being it's not wood. I decided I wanted to put a towel on the floor and close the top flap and sit down Indian style in a meditation pose and use this sauna this way. While inside its dark quiet and peacefully relaxing it gets wa right away but not uncomfortably and before long you are dripping rivers of sweat! It has a very easy to use controller and the sauna comes literally out of the box light weight folds open just fine with a little wooden tension bar to help hold the structure more stable. The instructions for the controller are very easy to understand and the seat doesn't look as unstable as some reviews stated but then again I'm 118 lbs ... My husband will be using this sauna as a sit down head out feature but if your a smaller person I sugjest sitting fully inside on the floor with a towel... Its quiet and relaxing! I love it and I'm hooked I have used it every single day and I'm addicted to it it feels so good. I do suggest replenishing minerals in your body and drinking water as well as washing the toxins and sweat off afterwords. ... show more

  • Stopped Working after using 5 times
This worked great when it worked. I received and everything seemed to be in order and no damage. I used this item 5 times and just went down this morning to use again and the system wouldn't even power up. I checked and used different outlets to make sure there was power and it still wouldn't work. Other users mentioned similar issues. Definitely not worth $500 if it breaks after limited uses. ... show more

  • Low EMF readings and a comparison to a similar sauna, tested with a Trifield 100XE Meter
I just got the Durherm yesterday. This thing looks pretty nice overall - decent quality and a good size for a big broad-shouldered guy like me. I wanted this for detoxing and because of it's size and the EMF-free claim. I've recently become concerned with EMF in my home and have bought the Trifield 100XE hand-held meter to do some testing (as a result I've moved/removed several power-generating devices in my bedroom and am sleeping much better). I have a similar sauna which I paid only a couple hundred dollar for and used my Trifield to measure the fields this one generates as a baseline to compare the Durherm unit. Here is what I found with my several years old silver unit (Note - these measurements were taken with the unit heating up and footpad on): RIGHT SIDE HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - readings varied between 30 to 50 milligauss at the front corners to 80-100+ at the rear corners (highest reading towards the bottom edge of the panel) LEFT SIDE HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - readings varied between 40 to 70 milligauss at the front corners to 80-100+ at the rear corners (again the highest reading towards the bottom edge of the panel). I think the reason the readings for the left panel were higher is due to the control electronics being located in the lower back corner on this side of the sauna. REAR HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - corners measured from 30-80 milligauss and the center was 60. This panel is fairly close to my spine when I'm sitting in the unit so this was of special concern to me. FOOTPAD (meter touching the top surface of the pad) - corners of the footpad measured from 5-20 milligauss, center of each foot per the silkscreen was 12 and there was a spike of 20 a couple inched from the middle left edge. My feet would be resting on this (not good). CENTER OF SAUNA (Where I would be sitting while using): At the seat of my chair I read 30 Milligauss, chest was 25, shoulders were 30 on the left and almost 50 on the right (!) neck area was 10, chin (right above neck-hole at the top of the unit) was 6 and face was 4. Baseline results were unacceptable for me, nowhere in this sauna was there an acceptable level of 3 or less (BTW, the Trifield shows the acceptable range pretty clearly and I'm using that as my criteria for safety. I believe this is based on the US standard for EMF field exposure). Now the results for the Durherm: RIGHT SIDE HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - readings were between 1 and 3 milligauss all over the panel with one spike of 15 near the front middle corner. This spike however dropped off to ambient about 2 inches above the panel. LEFT SIDE HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - readings are pretty much identical to the right side of the sauna. There is another hot spot, again near the front middle of the panel but it drops off to ambient quickly and won't be close to me where I'm sitting so I'm not concerned about it. REAR HEATER PANEL (meter touching the panel) - corners measured ambient (1-2 milligauss) and center was same. there was also a hot spot here but it was 10 milligauss and was at ambient where my back would be resting against the backrest in the chair I'm using. FOOTPAD (meter touching the top surface of the pad) - corners of the footpad measured from 1-2 milligauss, center of each foot per the silkscreen was 32 and no spike. CENTER OF SAUNA (Where I would be sitting while using): Everywhere I measured was at ambient, including the area where my shoulders would be. Conclusion: This seems to pretty-much meet the claim that this sauna is EMF-free. I was pretty surprised but according to my Trifield this thing should be as safe as sleeping in my bed. I just got it yesterday so I haven't used it yet (meeting with my doctor this afternoon for a check-up and will mention it - I'm not expecting the sauna to be an issue but want to make sure just for safety). I plan on using it for the first time tonight and will update my review in the future based on my experience. I have initially given it 4 stars since I haven't used it yet - if it works well I'll update to 5 stars. Also - the XL size of the Durherm fits me very well - I'm a big guy, 6'3" tall and about 240 pounds. I work out at a local gym 5 days a week and bikeride 3K miles a year so overall I'm in very good shape but because of my size I need some room in order to be comfortable. My other sauna is a regular/normal size unit and it's too constraining for me to fit in comfortably, which is why it's not been used much in the several years since I bought it. If I had to pick, I'd say the biggest issue I have with the Durherm is the color but that's really not a big deal (but it would be cool in black!). Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this company and was not offered any discounts in return for a review. This is just my honest opinion on the item I received and am hoping to use often. I hope this review has been helpful to those looking for an in-home sauna... ... show more

  • Worth every penny
My naturopath recommended this sauna to me because my body does not detox well and I barely sweat even when exercising. I have the MTHFR gene mutation and it causes me all sort of problems. It has been worth every penny. I've been using it every day and it's already paid for itself. I have more energy than normal and my body does not feel as heavy and inflamed. I am taking a biotoxin binder every time I go in the sauna. I've had it about 1 month, so I will update this if it stops working like some of the other reviewers. It's true that the chair isn't super comfortable, but it's not horrible. I do think if I was a bigger person it would be uncomfortable. I do wish it could get hotter than 150 as I'm always pretty cold and sometimes it takes a while for me to sweat even at 150. I use it for 25-30 minutes a day. I don't always use the foot heating function, but when I do I wear socks because it gets too hot with bare feet. I love that it has zippers to pull your hands out so you can look at your phone while you are in there or take a drink without getting out. It's super easy to set up and fold up. I can move it to any room I like and could even travel with it. I really don't have anything bad to say and only good because it's helping me improve my health! ... show more

  • I made it work, but it's almost not worth the cost
This sauna puts me in a tough spot as far as reviews. There is none other like it in the portable/low EMF category. I've made it work for me, and it's already paid for itself over going to my local practitioner/spa every week, but if you have the space, I'd recommend going for the full-size wood sauna. If you don't have the space, this thing is very large, and you're probably going to want a smaller personal sauna. I like it, it's worked 4 months so far, but I don't know that I could justify the price to anyone else. As for EMF, I have no way to measure. I did buy a multimeter and found that when I'm sitting in it, my body goes up to 76 V which was so much higher than anywhere else in the house (sitting in it unplugged was only 4 V). I use an Earthing band when in the sauna and it took me down to .5 V. So I will only use the sauna when grounded. Whether this would be any different in a higher EMF sauna, I don't know. The sauna itself is terribly uncomfortable. The chair is so tiny and cuts into my legs. My body doesn't line up with the holes so I couldn't relax my posture. I had to put my own chair in it, which was too big and made getting out difficult and probably dangerous to the less-than-top-quality materials. The inside of the zippers are very sharp and scratch me when i try to get in or out. Finally I just took the chair out and I sit on a towel on the floor with the top open. Sweat much better that way and don't touch the zippers. The foot pad gets insanely hot so I don't use it. The color is of course hideous, and it's not so terribly easy to fold up and is still quite large. A very large person could fit inside and it takes up a lot of room. So is it worth it? My situation is this: I need to sauna at least once a week (preferably more) for my health condition. I rent and don't have room for a full size sauna. I was concerned about EMF, though I'm not sure if it matters when using earthing products. I have just enough extra room to keep this set up all the time, though it is a bit annoying and in the way. A sauna session costs $30/week, so this pays for itself in a few months, less since I use it 2-3x a week and so does my spouse. I get through illnesses without pharmaceuticals, and though I'm immunocompromised but unable to use bleach cleaners, must do all my own shopping and go to to the doctor every week, have not gotten Corona. So it has been worth the expense for me. But I can easily see someone having buyers remorse over this expensive item that could very much use some upgrades. ... show more

  • Going strong after 2 years and over 200 uses
I bought this sauna on March 9, 2020 according to my Amazon records. Was just using it again today and thought I should write a review on it, something that has lasted this long deserves to be praised. I got it during COVID when I was forced to stay away from gyms. I used to use the sauna in my gym several times a week. I continued that habit in this sauna at home, with gaps in between when I would become lazy and not exercise or bother. But over 2 years - about 100 weeks, at an average of 2 uses per week - this thing is still going strong and warming up the same as it did the first day. It always gives me a great sweat where I am dripping, I do about 30 min at the top heat of 150, and another 15-20 at 130. I will say that except for once when I moved it from downstairs to upstairs, I have never moved or folded it. So that might be why its lasted so long for me, probably folding it repeatedly would have decreased its life span. I keep it in the same place, and just unplug it if I'll be out of my home on vacation. Otherwise it stays plugged in, with the power off, and ready to use within minutes. Hope this review was helpful, for me the cost was well worth it! ... show more
