  • A lot of information to help the new photographer hone their skills
Full disclosure - I received this product as a member of the Amazon VINES review program. The comments and opinions are based on my knowledge of similar products and experience using the product listed. These DSLR cheat sheet cards are printed on a stiff, durable plastic. The text is protected from abrasion and wear since it is not a surface ink but appears to be a laminate. Being that they are of quality plastic with a laminate text, there should be no worries of them getting wet. The cards are roughly 4" x 6" with the information printed on both sides. The provided information is broken into several key segments of DSLR photography on 18 pages (9 cards font and back). These are: 1) Camera Settings 2) General photography 3) Equipment 4) Histogram & Exposure 5) Sunny Day or Snow 6) Night & Low-Light 7) Sunrise & Sunset 8) Portraits 9) Macro 10) Indoor / Lighting 11) Sports 12) Special Situations 13) HDR 14) Equivalent Exposure 15) Troubleshooting There is also a solid white, solid black and an 18% grey card for setting exposure and white balance. While these cards are not specifically directed at any particular DSLR or brand and the information they contain isn't a step by step of how-to-do-it, they are generic but still informative enough to be applied to almost any DSLR available today. I followed some of the information to see how well my results would be without actually adding any of my knowledge of photography (I've been making images for over 35 years, but I'm still learning stuff all the time) and I was impressed by the results. If you are a new photographer just learning to use that new DSLR, using your camera manual and these cards, you should be able to become very successful in your photography. And for only $13, they should easily pay for themselves with some great results in your photos. Check them out for yourself. ... show more

  • Super informative. A lot of cards included.
This pack has so many cards included. It's a bit heavy, so it's great that there's a solid carabiner included with it. Each card is themed to teach a different way of using my DSLR, and there's a ton of information included on each. The printing is small, but I've used my phone camera to zoom in when I've needed to. I think that this is a solid set for beginners, or even folks who could just use a reminder when they can't get things to look just right. Doing it properly the first time saves on editing time, which I can appreciate, since I'm learning photoshop and all it's tricks and tics as well as learning how to properly use the DSLR I've had for two years now, lol. I think this is well worth the money. It fits into my camera bag, but it also hangs off my strap easily enough, so it's right at hand when I need it. I'd buy for friends as a gift. I'll get my son one when I get him his DSLR for Christmas, so that he can jump right in. These are way easier to use on the spot than googling and watching YouTube videos, which I'm really happy with. ... show more

  • DSLR cheat cards
On the positive side, the cards are heavy duty and should last a while. They can be wiped down clean because they're made out of plastic. They do include a lot of useful information. My concern is the frequent incorrect spellings and poor proofreading as you can see in the picture. This makes me wonder if the photographic information is correct when I see so many spelling errors and other grammatical errors. These cards would be much better if the manufacturer would have somebody proof read everything and double check it. It looks very amateurish at this point. ... show more

  • Handy to Have in Your Camera Bag
I was pleasantly surprised with this product. I didn't know what to expect but figured out I'd give it a look. It comprises 9 @ 4” x 6” plastic cards providing 18 pages packed with information. The product also includes 3 more blank plastic cards plus a carabiner that fits the metal ring holding the cards together as well as a "thin cord to plastic piece" (I don't know how else to describe it( that was looped around the ring but I am not sure what this items are for. As to the information I think that the majority is pretty basic with several nuggets of more advanced information hidden throughout. There are also several topics aimed at specific photographing situations that are more rare than most and for which the information provided (mostly advanced beginner to intermediate levels) are rather helpful. I’ve recently resumed my hobby into photography after a many decade hiatus and although I’ve still known most of the material in the cards there were more than a few issues that I had forgotten how to handle that were covered. If I have to have any reservations about this DSLR Cheat Sheet is that (1) the printing is very small and (2) you may be in a situation where you do not have the time to go searching through the pages for the information that you need. Although there is an index on the first page it is very generic and figuring out where a specific question fits can be difficult. Given all that I still think this product is worthwhile for photographers of all skill levels to have around just in case they have a shooting issue that they do not know, or have forgotten, how to handle. All in all I think that the amount of information that is packed on the 9, relatively indestructible, pages makes this "Cheat Sheet" a worthy product for inclusion in the camera bags of many levels of photographers. At best it will come in handy, at worst you can pass it on to another who is at a lesser skill level. ... show more
