My mom needs occasional use of a wheelchair for doctors appointments and other situations where she would otherwise need to get places. I did a great deal of research before deciding on this brand and model. We noticed that this brand is used at the hospitals we’ve been to recently, as well as the doctors offices where mom’s had appointments. This wheelchair has been a really great addition to her mobility aids. It’s easy to push, easy to unfold, and super easy to fold up by simply pulling up on the seat. My husband is also able to get this wheelchair into the car without much problem because it’s not terribly heavy. My mom is a larger woman. She’s 5’7 and weighs a bit over 200 pounds. We were really happy that she fits easily in this chair with room to spare. She said it’s comfortable for short periods of time. She wouldn’t want to spend long periods of time sitting in this chair but that’s also true of any wheelchair, regular chair, or any seated position because she suffers with debilitating chronic pain. If you’re looking for a manual wheelchair that’s really affordable, easy to use, and easy to push or maneuver, this Drive Medical SSP220DDA-ELR Silver Sport 2 is an excellent choice. My husband has been having trouble walking through the grocery store. There are almost never any provided motorized wheelchairs available. Or they are usually out of order. This wheelchair was a nice price and it easy to unfold. It's not too heavy. The maneuverability is great. There is one problem with the chair. The arm won't stay locked in place on the right side. They are made to be able to be removed with a button. For some reason this button won't stay locked and my husband has to keep knocking it back into locked position. I really don’t have a negative thing to say about this wheelchair! I had extensive knee surgery and learned I would be non-weight bearing for approximately 6 weeks. Crutches and/or a walker wasn’t going to cut it all the time at home, or going out. Due to the immobilizer brace, I had to have a wheelchair that included the leg/foot rests. Since it was a temporary situation, I didn’t want to spend a lot and after countless phone calls looking to rent a chair as well as searching on second hand sites, it became clear that purchasing a chair would be the best option. The Drive Medical Silver Sport arrived in 2 days and the only assembly needed was attaching the leg rests which is fantastic. It is incredibly durable, and I feel safe getting in and out of it as the wheel locks are easily accessible and work very well. I chose the larger size since I plan on keeping it and I wanted my husband to be able to use it if needed. It is a bit too large for some of our doorways (our house is old). It folds up easily for transport, but is a little heavy for me to carry down the stairs or put in the car due to my injury. I would recommend purchasing a wheelchair seat pad because the standard seat can be a bit uncomfortable if your are in the chair for an extended period of time. They changed the weight limit description after I purchased it. When I bought it in 2023, I purposely selected this because it said it could handle up to 400 lbs. I was around 355 lbs so that worked out. After a couple years, the seat is tearing. I'm repairing it now and noticed they changed it to 350 lbs max weight. Always go UP from your real weight when buying. You might have to carry foods, bags etc and that adds to the weight (wear and tear) over time. ... show more

Great value for the money. Easy to maneuver but wish i had ordered a more narrow one for my daughter. It’s hard to fit through some narrow doorways. It is great quality and seems to hold up well loading and unloading out of car. It’s heavy but could hold a large person. Smooth ride and adjustable legs were great after my daughter’s surgery.
