Stock alternator was on the fritz. After 23 years, the OEM alternator had decided it was time to fail. It's was still putting out power, but would trigger a weird p1381 engine code. According to the internet, if it's not the distributor it must be the alternator. Checking my big box parts store, they quoted me $250 for a reman. Vehicle is worth close to $1000 so a quarter of the vehicle's worth for an alternator? I thinks not. Used the internet once again for wisdom... And to save a buck. Found thuis guy and decided it was worth a shot. Even if it only lasts half the time of the OEM alternator it's replacing, the car would probably succumb to rust before that time is reached. Heck, even if it only lasts a quarter of the time, I'll still get close to 6 years out of it. My son's will be driving by then and they can inherit the headache. Part installed flawlessly. Was a direct fit and had it going after 20 minutes. My p1381 vanished and my car is back to being happy. Time will tell if this is a quality piece but for the price, I'll take that gamble. ... show more

just installed with no problems and noted the difference. found issue with my 21 year old altnerator and finally gave out. good thing i paid attention to car's response to the failing alternator. will review while driving tomorrow.
