  • So helpful

This is the best chair I have ever bought. I have difficulty getting out of the bathtub. I don’t have a lot of strength in my hands to push me up out of the tub. This chair has been the best purchase I have ever made. It stays charged up for almost a week before you need to recharge the controller. Just a little advice. Make sure you flip it over about once a week and clean the bottom of it because it does collect debris from your bathwater and I have scrubbed black mold off of the bottom. So just make sure you clean it thoroughly from top to bottom. ... show more

This is just what I needed. I have had multiple elbow dislocations and could not get in and out of the tub. This has allowed me to get my relaxing soaks safely. It is very stable and I can use it independently.

  • Think Twice Before Buying This Product

Drive Medical is a big company; but my advice is to steer clear of their prodoucts. This Bellavita Bathlift was the third Drive Medical product I’ve purchased; and all three products have been defective in one way or another. With that said, I received my Bellavita Bathlift on Saturday, Mar. 21, 2020; but it is missing the battery charger. On Monday, I contacted Drive Medical to see if they could send me the missing part. I couldn’t even speak to a real person at Drive Medical; but rather had to use their online live chat option. After explaining the problem, Drive’s customer service persons told me I had to resolve the problem through the seller (i.e. Amazon). That was because it had been less than 30 days since I purchased it. Their company would only help me if I was filing a warranty claims, after the initial 30 days. In the past, I’ve received a few other products that had missing or broken parts. Amazon’s standard reply has been that they can’t open a box and send me a replacement part. Instead, my only recourse was to return the whole product for a replacement. I assumed it would be the same story this time; but I couldn’t even speak to an Amazon customer support person. Amazon’s telephone recording said to expect a longer than normal wait time because they are short staffed due to complying with Coronavirus guidelines. Then, the recording just disconnected. At this point in time, I DO NOT want a replacement. This has been just too much hassle; so I’ll buy what I need from a local company.; and it won't be something made by Drive Medical. Their inability or unwillingness to help was unacceptable customer support. Now, as for my impression of the actual Bellavita Bathlift. Even though I didn’t get to actually use it, it felt cheap and flimsy. The entire frame is made from plastic. I felt like the side wings, as well as the other frame parts, could easily be broken. This next issue will vary depending on the type of tub a person has. Given the size and placement of the lift, within the bathtub, I lost about 14” from the length of my bathtub and about 3” from the depth. I was so cramped that I couldn’t lay down in my tub in order to soak my upper back and shoulders. Lastly, the vinyl seat and back covers are a hazard waiting to happen. Unless you disassemble and dry everything after each bath, water could easily collect under the covers, leading to dangerous mold and mildew situation. All things considered, my 1-star rating is being generous. ----- Update: As I mentioned in my original review, I wasn’t at all impressed with the Drive Medical Bellevida Bathlift. One thing I didn’t mention is that the Bellevida’s control unit plugs into the seat back. (This is also true for all similar bathlift chairs made by other companies). Even though the seat back and bottom detach from each other, the back must be attached in order for the lift mechanism to work. And, if you have a jetted bathtub, the back of the bathlift blocks the jets; so you lose the therapeutic benefit they provide. After returning my defective (i.e. missing charger) Bellevida, I reviewed dozens of other bathlifts. In doing so, I came across one that is rather unique. It’s called the Peter Pan Bathlift; and it’s made in Germany. Perhaps, that’s one of the reasons Amazon doesn’t sell it. In fact, I only found a couple US medical supply companies that do sell the Peter Pan Bathlift. Rather than having a battery-powered controller unit, which must be recharged, the Peter Pan has a manual crank handle that you use to raise and lower the seat. And, since the crank handle fits in a hole in the seat, you can use only the seat portion (i.e. without the back attached). That gives you access to the full length of your tub, and also to the jets (if your tub has them). Furthermore, the Peter Pan has a metal frame; which feels much sturdier than the Bellevida’s plastic frame. It takes about 40 turns to fully raise (or fully lower) the Peter Pan’s seat; but the crank handle turned smoothly and with minimal effort. Given the metal frame, and the lack of motorized parts, I suspect my Peter Pan Bathlift will outlive me. So far, I am very satisfied with it; and I love being able to take a bath again. BTW: I’m just a regular consumer who appreciates having as much information as possible before spending my hard-earned money. I’m not a sales rep for the Peter Pan Bathlift, nor am I receiving any compensation for promoting it. ... show more

  • Review from a very grateful daughter
Style: Whisper
My mother LOVES baths and HATES showers. She uses the bathtub not only for bathing, but also to soak her legs before bed and to relax. During a recent illness, she felt unsafe getting into the bathtub. I puzzled and puzzled, trying to think of a safe way to assist her. I found grab bars galore, but given her general weakness/unsteadiness, those were not an option. I felt like yelling, "EUREKA," when I came across this lift during my 57th search (okay I might be exaggerating slightly) on Amazon for ideas. I'm not sure why it didn't show up in my initial searches, but it's exactly what she needed. I was a bit concerned she would not be willing to use this "contraption." Oh, boy, I was wrong! Once she got past her initial surprise, she was eager to try it. Here's my quick list of pros . . Fits in a small tub Sturdy Easy to clean Lightweight Easy to operate (my mother had it down in 2 minutes) Easy to charge The only possible con is its price. But let me assure you, it is worth every penny. I would have given the world to find a solution for my mother. I was thrilled to pay hundreds of dollars. Although my mother may soon not NEED the lift, I see her continuing to use it "just in case." She is also telling all her friends/relations about this amazing lift - my uncle who has had a stroke, her girlfriend who is undergoing radiation treatment, etc. . . If this review sounds like an advertisement for the product, be assured it is not. It is simply the review of a very grateful daughter. ... show more

  • Works perfectly!

My wife wanted a walk in bathtub as she has had neck and back surgeries which made it difficult to get out of the bathtub without assistance. We just happened to stumble upon this product and it looked promising so I ordered it. I am so glad that I did because she absolutely loves it! The instructions leave a bit to be desired but I managed to get it together in about half an hour and then had the remote control unit on the charger overnight. The next day she used it for the first time and was like a kid on a new carnival ride. She can now get in and out of the tub without assistance. So far I am more than pleased with this product. ... show more
