Features

  • 50 Foot Drain Auger is a great household tool for quickly unclogging any drain including kitchen and bathroom sinks, bathtubs, showers, and drainage pipes. Save yourself a big plumbing bill by trying to unclog the drain yourself first.
  • Hands Free Power: Combining the best features of our Power Pro drill auger along with SPINFEED technology enables completely mess free operation. The drain cable extends automatically as the drum spins with the simple press of a lever, unlike other drain augers which require you to manually pull the cable out as you go. You can also turn the drum manually using the turning knob if you want to avoid using a drill.
  • 1/4" Dia. Steel Snake with spiral head designed for 1-1/4" through 3" drain pipes. It is not recommended to use this drum auger to clear a toilet clog as the snake may damage the porcelain. In addition, the 1/4 diameter snake may get twisted inside the large diameter of the toilet drain.
  • Instruction are included in a info-graphic on this page as well as with the product. Easy Work Gloves and Drawstring Carrying Pouch Included!

Description

Size: 25 FT DrainX manufactures quality drain cleaning equipment for both do it your-selfers and professionals. Our main focus is innovation, quality and durability. We research and find the additional features our customers are looking for in their equipment, and diligently work to find a solution. Compact designed spinfeed electric drain cleaner is a cost efficient and versatile tool for any household or professional, portable for easy navigation & placement. Two way spinfeed mechanism easily advances and retracts cable, preventing any bodily injury as well as mitigates contact with harmful microorganisms that infest any rugged surfaces. The drain auger should be held within 4” of the drain opening. If the drain auger cannot be held within 4” of the drain opening, cable support should be provided with a pipe of similar size. This helps prevent curling or twisting of the cable. Pull the snake out of the drum and push into the drain opening as far as it will go. Make sure a minimum of a foot of cable is in the drain so that the cable will whip around when the cable starts turning. If using a drill, it must be set to a low speed of less than 500 rpm. Place one hand over the handle with the trigger and the other hand on the drill handle, or the auger knob if using manually. Turn the drum clockwise, as marked with an arrow on the back of the drum, and squeeze the trigger. Squeezing the trigger advances the cable into the drain. Cable can also be rapidly fed or retracted by manually pushing or pulling the cable. Advance the cable through the drain until the clog is reached. If the cable stops turning, it is not cleaning; do not continue to spin and advance at the same time. Spin the cable without advancing it, or advance the cable very slowly to help break up the clog. When the drain has been cleaned, turn the drum counterclockwise while squeezing the trigger to retract the cable.

  • Use It Properly And It Works
Size: 35 FT
This augur is similar to the 25 ft Ridged Augur. I put the DrainX 35ft side by side with the ridged and the only difference was the color and the barrel size. I have read reviews of people complaining that it was cheaply built and that the spring rod snaps but decided to take my chance anyway. When I received it the crank handle wouldn't snap on but I didn't care. I intended to use my drill with it anyway because my clog was beyond 25 ft. I found the registration card in the box so first thing to do is register it for the extended warranty just to be safe. I proceeded to test the pistol grip to see if it auto-fed in and out with the use of my drill. No problems so lets get to work. Before I started I used WD40 to lube the spring rod before I started by spraying it into the barrel. I find the this keeps it from rusting. I did this with my Ridged 25 ft and its still looks new. Its 3 years old. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The fastest way to project the augur in to your drain is by hand feeding it until you hit a turn or the clog then crank it using the drill very slowly until it frees up. To prevent it from kinking drill slow and make sure the barrel is no more than 4 inches from the drain entry point. This is key to prevent kinking and snapping the spring rod. Also drill slow, absolutely do not speed drill. Once it is free, hand feed it again until it stops again and repeat the above as many times as needed. I extended all 35 ft. You know you are at the end when you see that 4 gaps where the spring looks like its stretched out. I triggered the drill for about 1 minute just to make sure I free any build up in the pipe while I was in there. I extracted it by hand and pushed it back in the barrel. Its much faster and you don't get any splash in your mouth. YUK.... I put the cap back on my cleanout turned the water on for about 5 minutes to flush any debris down and there you have it. No more clog. Saved $250 by not calling a plumber and now I can spend it on some nice bottles of bourbon. The bag and gloves were a nice touch. BTW.... I wrote this extensive review because this is a good product if you use it correctly. Its construction is in line with the name brands and preforms just as well. I read reviews before I buy anything. The 1 star reviews I read on this product just don't match up with my experience so I come here to assure buyers that this is a good product as well as value. My dad always said, treat your tools right and they will work for you. Clearing a drain sucks but if you are methodical about it and take your time this tool works just fine. I hope this review finds you well and your pipes are clear as your arteries. ... show more

  • Works decently, weak handle
Size: 35 FT
Worked fine overall and way cheaper than calling a plumber. However the 35 foot (and I assume larger) ones are poorly balanced and the cheap crank handle kept falling out while trying to retract it because the weight of the spindle puts too much strain on it. If it had a sturdier crank handle it would be perfect for the price, as having to nurse it really takes time and makes it heavier and more obnoxious than it needs to be. ... show more

  • The only 1/4" drain snake that is 50 feet long.
Size: 50ft
I have been frustrated working with fairly narrow drain pipes clogged with "flushable" wipes that are 30 feet in; just beyond the reach of the standard 25 foot snake. Our 50 and 100 foot snakes are too thick (3/8 inch) to negotiate the pipes, and so were not usable. This will be exactly what I need. BE CAREFUL not to let it get kinked or supercoiled by over-torque. Feed it slowly, and pay attention for the cable getting jammed. It is probably not strong enough to be forced out of a pipe if it is jammed in place, with a 1/4 inch cable. Arrived with all accessories listed. Hand crank is easy to install and remove. Auto-feed works as described. It is *heavy*, and should be used at a fairly low speed (as recommended in the user guide), so it doesn't get away from you from momentum. Also, give the drum a spin by hand before running the drill, to save on wear. The extra torque to get it started is quite a strain. ... show more

  • Do Not Buy
Size: 50ft
This is total garbage. It kinks super easy. The very first time I used it kinked way down the line so I didn't know until it was permanently damaged. Unfortunately, my first time using it was after the return window. I would highly recommend you don't waste your money buying this item. The housing is cheap plastic. The auger and auger line is very light weight metal and will not hold up under normal use. The storage bag is a nice touch however. After a long delay when I reached out to the company, they finally offered to send me a replacement unit. Kudos on them. However, I will not be accepting their offer as the item was pretty much junk the first time, I'm not sure what sending another piece of junk would do other than fill up my garage. ... show more

  • Fine. Retraction malfunction
Size: 35 FT
Unclogged my pipe . Gloves are a nice touch. Feels durable. But it doesn’t retract properly-it retracts exceptionally slow. It almost seems like it’s not even moving. If you grip the handle HARD it helps a bit, but that doesn’t seem right. Maybe just a one-off defect.

  • A good, basic drain auger for homeowners
Size: 35 FT
We have a French drain and sump system in the basement that continuously pumps groundwater out. The French drain, basically a gutter that rings the basement floor, occasionally gets clogged with iron ochre (from a bacteria in the local soil that builds up over time). This auger was just the ticket for keeping the gutter clear. We were paying over $500 a couple times a year for a service to come in and do a hot flush of the gutter. Then, one day, I asked myself why not try snaking the gutter? But my little 25' and 18' snakes weren't long enough, so I ordered this bad boy. 35' is long enough to reach all the way to the end of each segment, and after two quick treatments, the system was flowing properly and the basement has been bone dry, six weeks and counting. You can attach a standard drill to the end, making it easy to spin the snake and quickly clear the blockage. To retrieve, reverse direction on your drill. The one thing to be careful of is not to run it too fast. I usually push the switch in about halfway and keep the speed moderate. They warn you, and I found it's true, that if you spin it too fast, the cable will tangle up and it becomes difficult to retrieve. This moderately priced tool has saved me a lot of money and is quite simple and convenient. I'm not sure about longevity; if it breaks or jams in the next year or two, I'll revise this review. But so far, it seems to be sturdy and well made. Well recommended! ... show more

  • 50ft more robust than 35ft
Size: 50ft
Bought the 50ft one. It kinks if you don't use it proper. never had any slack. And I knew exactly how far to go down +1 on the bendyness. Had a couple of tight 90 in old metal drain pipes. Took them like a champ. If the wire was any thicker or diameter bigger, no bueno $68 for a one time clean out way cheaper than a plumber or professional tool. Toss or donate and buy again. Highly recommend! 20 minutes at most and it got the clog(s). Dog toy had some fibers and yarn come out when washing in bathroom sink Everything seems more robust for the more expensive one I had delayed shipping for the 35ft. One week delayed to two weeks delayed to three. Canceled and got the more expensive. < 24 hours and it was at my doorstep ... show more

  • Cheap spindle
Size: 50ft
I actually gave it one more star than I wanted to. Spindle once you put your draw on it. It’s so flimsy that sometimes you don’t even get 5 feet before the spindle breaks off and there is no replacement available so you spent $70 on this auger to maybe use it once.
