We had a clogged drain that flooded our laundry room and knew from a previous incident that this was at least 15 ft. out, basically almost under the sidewalk. I was impressed by previous good reviews of this tool, ordered it right away and it showed up reliably the next day. Apparently, judging from initial reviews, the tool has also been improved in that it now indicates in yellow color when the last 4 ft. of cable come out of the drum, so you know when to stop feeding it into the drain. Very helpful! We inserted the cable into the drain and after the initial trap (that takes a bit of patience to wiggle it through) it moved through with relative ease until it hit the clog. A few movements back and forth and we reeled it all back. Two laundry loads later, the room has remained dry, so the tool seems to have done its magic. I can only recommend this little tool as a quick remedy. It's little money well spent and can save you hundreds of dollars for the plumber.     • Quick and works... but came banged up
It worked great. I am a first time homeowner and usually call my dad crying when something is wrong. Decided to see if I could do it myself. I was a little disappointed that the bag it came in had a large rip in it and that the drum was very dented (hence - 4 stars), but I liked that it came with gloves. It is also pretty confusing, but I am also a total novice and, other than using a plunger, have never done anything with plumbing. A quick search on YouTube and I had my drain totally clear in under 15 minutes. My bathtub has been clogged for over a year! I have had so called plumbers come out to unclog my bath tub no avail. I bought this Heavy Duty 25-Ft Drain Cable and it worked fast and my bathtub is now unclogged. It is easy to use and it took approximately 5 minutes to unclog my bathtub.     • Do not buy this for trying to clear a clogged toilet.
This product is great for a straight drain with no regards to dimension of opening. For small openings such as the bathtub with metal cage for stopper you will need something much smaller. Walmart carries a smaller ten foot snake that I use to clear the bathtub drain as the head of this item will not fit through the openings. The one from Walmart is approximately ten dollars. This auger is good for drains that are in a straight pipe. It will not go through all the curves in a toilet and does not do anything to clear a clog that is further down the line. I recently had two clogged toilets and tried to clear them myself with this auger and was unable to advance it for about three feet. it is too rigid to go around all the curves of a toilet. I ended up having to call in Roto Rooter who used a manual 6 ft toilet auger that I could have bought six of for the price I paid them. I tried chemicals such as a a gallon of drain opener that was guaranteed to work, let's see if they refund my money as is promised on the packaging, I also tried the green gobbler which did nothing either but was also guaranteed to work. The technician for Roto Rooter was only here less than 30 minutes but the bill was $313.50 and all he used was the same type of 6 foot toilet auger that is sold on here. So when I get my budget back in line I plan to purchase one to have on hand so I no longer have to be at the mercy of High Priced Plumbing Companies that hold your feet to the fire because they can. Each and every one of us pays for those prime time commercials and those nice new vans with all the advertisement on them. ... show more
