My daughter has long hair so a slow drain has always been a problem. Most of the hair is right near the top of the drain and I usually use needle nose pliers to get it out. This past week she decided to clean her fish tank in the tub so now we had hair and sand clogging the drain and it was very slow. I inserted this into the drain and was able to push past the clog. It was actually difficult to pull the clog out but this drain cleaner held onto to it very well. The photo I included is about a third of what I got out. It holds onto the hair so well that it is difficult to get the hair off of it. I'm going to let it dry out and then try to salvage it. The item does the job well for light drain clogs. The end has the plastic Velcro like hooks which stay firmly attached to the wire even after extensive usage. The wire itself is flexible enough for guiding through the trap and appears strong enough to hold the shape well even when trying to use with slightly heavier clogs. The little loopy handle at the end is perhaps the weakest link in the tool. It is difficult to use that effectively to twist the entire tool when trying to snag hair etc in the clog and pull it out. You just can’t get enough leverage for heavier clogs and the wire itself bends to accommodate the twist from the top. In other words, great for usage with lighter drain clogs, certainly not a replacement for the snake for heavier and denser drain clogs. ... show more

    • One of the best I've used
I've tried a lot of plastic clog removers over the years, and I find them lacking. The teeth don't grab much and they often get stuck inside the pipe, and need to be pulled out with a lot of force. These are flexible, but rigid enough to push into a drain. The have a smooth outer cover, making it easy to insert and remove. The "grabber" is a 1.5" coarse brush that grabs hair and debris with ease. I think the power of this one is less about the retraction of debris -- though it does a great job with hair -- but moreso it can poke through and clear stuck areas. It's the perfect combination of length and flexibility to do so. I can't imagine I'd need 5 of these but glad to have them on-hand if needed. I highly recommend this drain clog remover. ... show more

I don't like to use chemicals to clear my drains, so I got these. I have had a drain that's been slow. I've tried plunging and hot water, but it didn't work. The snake is rigid, but flexible. It's thin, so it feeds down the drain pretty easy. At first, I had a bit of resistance in my clogged drain, so I pulled the snake out, removed a little bit of debris from it, and fed it in the drain again. The snake's length really helped in pushing the clog down and out of the drain. After two feeds, my drain is clear and empties well again. This drain cleaner works better than my previous ones. I’ve been using the plastic ones and had one break inside my drain when pulling it out. This one is sturdy and catches the hair really well. The small size ensures you can use it in the smallest drains. It’s great for small clogs. I would recommend using gloves cuz you’ll either have to remove the hair and gunk caught on the end, or throw it away and use a new one. I pulled the hair off cuz I’m not made of money.     • They're kinda single-use
As the husband/handyman in the family, I handle all the odd jobs that aren't quite on the hire-a-professional level. One of those jobs has been to clean out the hair from shower drains. The thing is...my wife and daughters are Italian and they have a lot of hair. Drain cleanings in our house are no small task. It's amazing just how much hair they lose on a regular basis, and yet they still have hair. So over the years I've tried several different tools/devices to accomplish this task. There are a few different options that have the same type of velcro hook material on them that these ones have. They have fun names that include "Weasel" and "Millipede" in them. They are fairly effective. Really, they are quite good for small jobs, but with my family I have to resort to the good old fashioned wire hanger with a hook bent on the end. After the bulk of the hair has been removed, the "Drainsoon" is great for cleaning up the hairs that are still down there, but for collecting a large clump of hair in my Italian family, this did not stand up. I was also discouraged that unless you really want to get your fingers into the nasty business of untangling all the hair...the device is pretty much a single-use item. I received this item as part of the Amazin Vine program. This set is okay for small drain jobs. The hooks are made of plastic, and the wire is made of steel, and it is flexible for traps and loops. It works, but as others have mentioned, it is a bit hard to use, twisting, turning, and cleaning. Overall, 4/5. decent. B+ ... show more

I cannot say enough good things about this drain snake/clog remover. It's long enough to get the job done, which means it will easily maneuver through the curves and turns of your sink, bathtub, and shower drains. The durable and tough micro hooks will pick up everything--which is exactly what you want if you have drains that may have accumulated a lot of hair and other debris over time.
