Let's be honest, this is not something you will use often, fortunately. But, when you do need something like this, you will be very glad you have it, and it's super affordable. I got this for a nasty master bathroom shower clog that persisted for days; to the point where zero water was draining. I ended up not needing it as a wetvac saved the day, but I didn't expect the clog to be so easily addressed. This is basically a 5' snake that engages four retractable metal prong "fingers" when the top button is pressed (and held). The snake itself is quite thin and will fit into most drains. It is both rigid yet flexible, allowing it to maneuver through a variety of pipes and situations. Not that I'm wishing for more clogs, but they are inevitable. The flexible metal tube has a good toughness to it yet it can be bent easily. This sixty-one(61") grabber tool makes accessibility to a wide range of hard to reach places, easy. Just press the red handle and it opens tiny little "grabbing claws;" release the handle and the claws retract, gripping the item. Four(4) little claws make it easy to grab a variety of small-type objects; and then hold them tightly while you retract the cable. This grabber tool is long at just over 5 feet in length. It works like it should in that depressing the nob, with the palm of your hand, extends the grabbing fork and releasing the nob retracts the grabbing fork. The action is a little stiff so that it does require a little bit of hand strength but I think that is mostly due to the length of this grabber. All in all I think that this tool is worth the price if you have a need for a grabber this long. ... show more

I got this to help unclog a bathtub drain. The plastic "snakes" are not strong enough get the job done. The drain has a metal part to hold the stopper, and I can barely fit this tool through. But once through it's easy to work with. It's strong enough to push through whatever that was clogging the drain. I did not need to use the grabber tool, but it might come in handy later on. Check the dimensions to make sure it will clear your drain opening. It barely did for me. But in the end it got the job done, and that's what matters. ... show more

I didn't order this to use in drains but I suspect that sooner or later I'll use it that way. I have a couple of smaller, cheaper grabbers that I've used over the years, mostly when working on cars when I need to retrieve dropped nuts, bolts or trim pieces that fall into deep recesses. The smaller versions work most of the time, but not always. This unit is built in a more heavy-duty way, with thicker hardware all around. The best part is the 4-prong grabber...it opens wider and grabs MUCH more firmly than any grabber I've ever owned. I may end up just tossing out my old ones.
