There is just the right amount of 'padding' in the thumb portion, which keeps my thumb immobile, and at just the right angle, and the thumb opening can be adjusted so it fits tight, but to too tight. This has been the best wrist brace for me when I have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. It has kept my wrists in place, but it still allows me to do simple tasks with my hands like typing and picking up larger items.
