I am a dog groomer with tendon pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. I need support, maneuverability, comfort, and water & hair resistance. I need something that I can keep clean and reuse. Thank goodness I found these gel braces! I am able to avoid pain while working and in my field, your hands and run through the ringer so that is more than I hoped. They start off with a powder, talc probably, fresh from the package. This allows the gel to slip over your skin easily. You can easily wash this off with water if you prefer I recommend leaving it on because learning how the brace fits on your hand is easier when it slides over your skin. Because I use it throughout the day and I am bathing dogs I have grown accustomed to putting the brace on without the powder because dry it off completely would be too much of a hassle. It is very stretchy but snaps back into place stubbornly which allows you to experience support while it hugs your skin when you move. The material is a little vulnerable to puncture, so if I have a dog with sharp toenails I have to be careful where those nails go if I don’t want a hole in my gel but is generally very strong as long as there is not a sharp edge. First waterproof option I have seen and very affordable. Could use some more color options to blend with skin tone but other wise worked great and didn’t bother me while I worked. And didn’t make my hand prune like or sweaty.

The headline probably says it all: Work well, smell funky. They are very comfortable and more functional that the bulkier styles that use metal inserts and velcro. Very comfortable to wear all day. I have trigger-thumb and very bad arthritis. Provides excellent support. Is flexible, waterproof. I apply talc to my thumb before putting it on. Can type without it getting in the way. Much better than clunky brace doctor supplied.

I sharply banged my inner wrist and thought only a bone bruise. 6 weeks later and it does not hurt for days. Then I twist of my wrist (still not sure of the exact movement) a certain way and intense wrist pain. I have a cloth brace I use for wrist and thumb stabilization but still risk making the movement when I shower, wash my hair or do dishes. I love this soft brace. It comes 4 to a package. Very worthwhile for the price. I do recommend using coconut oil inside after washing to slide it on again or for sweating hands to block the sweat. I tried using cornstarch and it was not slippery enough. I used it continuously for 3 days working as a nurse. I scrubbed with a continual germ kill soap at the beginning of my shift and used same on the brace. Then I kept the brace on and washed hands with it on dried them and wore gloves to see my patients. The skin on my hands was dry by the third day sonIntried using the cornstarch after taking it of to let my skin breathe. I tore the thumb just a little. Bought these to wear just for Saturdays, when I do heavy cooking and the chopping etc worsens my thumb joint pain. They provide fantastic support but durability is NO BUENO. I have only one left out of three in 6 weeks… and I’m careful with stuff…wish they wouldn’t break so easily…

I have De Quervain's tenosynovitis in my right thumb and these braces have been helpful in dealing with it. They give good compression and are waterproof (yay!) but they also get dirty pretty easily and eventually tear. I don't mind that much and have bought them several times because they are the best option I've found. I prefer a waterproof brace so that I can keep up with my active life but they do get hot/irritating to wear after a while and cause my hand to sweat.
