  • Smooth as butter
Style: Strings
I was worried they’d feel coarse because of the coating but they are as smooth as butter. I’ve had them for some months now and play shows regularly so they’re starting to show some wear at the bridge where I pluck (I don’t use a pick) but they’ve otherwise been great! The UV reaction is BRIGHT! I liked them enough to buy a second set for my other bass. ... show more

  • Dramatic looks, good not great sound (for my ears!)
Style: Strings
These strings are definitely “bright” - visually. They fluoresce vibrantly under UV. The coating seems pretty durable - I have more than a hundred hours playing on them now - fingers only, and there’s no significant wear on the coating. The coating makes them a bit thick which translated to them being a bit tight through the nut. I’d file the nut some if I was sure I would keep these. Acoustically they’re full, not too different from other roundwounds, but the E is dramatically more growly than the other strings. This calmed down somewhat with a few hours of playing but is still quite noticeable. They look pretty spectacular on my bass, and they sound overall good but not great and take a bit of technique adjustment to not let the E rule the show. Others might enjoy having the extra punch on the E more than I do. With some adjustment to style and fretting choices, it does allow for some interesting tonal character. Picture 1 is in normal light and 2 shows them under UV. In sunlight, they really stand out. ... show more
