  • Great little heater
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
I like this little heater in my greenhouse. It's still working after a month in high humidity. I will say, I wish there was an actual temperature gauge and not just a dial. Because it's hard to know what you're setting the temperature at, and it does not have tip over protection.

  • Keeps my greenhouse warm in the winter
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
Works great. Have two and my greenhouse stays a an even 65 degrees no matter what the outside temp is. has been as low as 6 degrees.

  • Fine little heater
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
We use this in our 6x8 HF greenhouse. I have it connected to a controller set to come on at 45f and go off at 60f. The nights lately have been low 20's and the heater has kept it about 40f. We have various house type plants in it tomatoes, lemon tree and wheat grass for the cats. So far everything is doing good. I don't have any extra insulation on the walls, I've thought about putting up some bubble wrap but I don't think it's needed. I think as long as it keeps it above freezing 32f the plants should be ok, we will see. It's a very well built nice little heater. You could use it without a controller I think you would just have to play with it a few days to see where to set the thermostat I already had the controller so I just use that to control the temp. Some little space heaters can't be controlled by a controller because they have to push a power button to turn them on first, not this one it can be turned on and off by a separate controller. Nice heater if your looking you can't go wrong unless your greenhouse is larger it my require two heaters. ... show more

  • It Heats, But the Output Has a Range
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
I bought the 120 model for use in my greenhouse. I would like for the temperature to be about 76º. The Dr.Heater is able to only maintain a range of heat, not anything close to dead on exact (Chinese Low - High dial type thermostat.) But, it does keep a fairly tight range. After about 5 trial/ error attempts, I was able to set the dial thermostat to a range that was 74º - 77º. What I like about this unit is the styling and quiet fan that blows the warm air from it. If the thermostat was digital, this would be a perfect unit, which it should be considering it's kind of expensive. ... show more

  • Could have been a great product
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
This heater has an all metal case, heavy heating element and quality fan. That is hard to find in 120V heaters. Unfortunately there are significant bad reviews with photos of wires melting, thermostat burning, etc. Anything that burns up out of the box has to get 1 star and probably explains why it got discontinued. So when I received my heater I immediately took it completely apart and rewired it for use with an external line voltage thermostat (Peco TF115-001). 1500 Watts is 12.5 Amps and that is really a lot of power in a heater because any defect will overheat and melt. The contacts in the thermostat are apparently rated for the load but are poor quality and apparently can't take repeated cycling of that much power. There is a thermal fuse built in which is good and probably explains why some units stopped making heat but continued to blow air. It saved the unit from a full melt down but is considered trashed. Replacement thermal fuses are not easily installed. I rewired using 14 AWG marine grade wire, crimped and soldered connections and a heavy cord and plug. I reconnected the thermal fuse but took out the thermostat and switch. That removes the problem areas completely. Again, this setup is for use with a good external thermostat. The fan should run continuously while in operation. A few weeks later, I ordered another unit and rewired it differently. I used an HVAC contactor (Eaton C25BNB230A). This contactor is designed for repeatedly cycling a 30 amp load. The original built in thermostat and switch drive the contactor and fan and now has much less power going through them. As before, I upgraded the connections and wire. See my photo. Later, I wired in a GGXAC1F480 NOsparc Arc Suppressor to protect the contacts. Now this is a 5 star product. These modifications are not something you should attempt unless you have electrician skills. The good news is the price on open box returns keeps going down so I bought a couple more and rewired them too. ... show more

  • Good for the right size of greenhouse
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
Originally purchased in late 2018, it's been in use every year to keep my orchids warm. Lately I've had it in my 5x6 ft greenhouse and control it with a wifi plug. Keeps my greenhouse from dipping below 60F. Recently it has been tripping the GFCI circuit. Measured coil resistance and it's approximately 8 ohm. Should be greater than 9.5 ohm. I plan to replace the old one with the same model. Couple things I've noticed since I've been using it. Does great in a wet/high humidity environment. Electronics are clean with no corrosion. Condensation collects in the bottom and there's no drain hole. Some rust, but paint holds up well. ... show more

  • Good Dr. Heater for you greenhouse.
Size: 120V / 1500W Style: Greenhouse Pattern Name: HEATER
The Greenhouse heater was not what I expected, but was just what I needed for my greenhouse. My greenhouse is 6x8 feet. It is not a typical heater, in that it blows warm air and not hot air. I think that hot air would toast my plants in the greenhouse. We had 22 degree temps last week. I set the thermostat just like the instructions stated. The low thermostat was set when the temps outside were about 45 degrees and I watched the temp maintained between 42 and 48 degrees maintained during the freeze here in Houston. I have a remote temp sensor that I can see in the house. I know....I know, for some of you that is not very cold. Sorry.... I am using an extension cord for power and I read the warnings, but what else am I going to do? Since, as sated above, the heated blows warm air instead of hot air, then the power requirements should be less. The heater is using less power to produce warm air and not hot air. An extension cord may not be the best option, but is shouldn't be a dangerous option. Just be sure that you use a good quality cord and maybe a cord with 12 gage wire instead of 14 gage. I bought my greenhouse to keep stored plants (plumeria) from freezing in the winter rather that growing plants. I have a big lack of storage place for my plants elsewhere. Anyway...I am very happy. Hope my review was a help. ... show more
