Description: Frustrated to find that the office chair you sit on for years start sagging or can’t go up and down anymore? How to make sure the gas lift cylinder fits your office chair? Check the outer and inner diameter of your broken gas lift cylinder. This replacement part fits the one with an outer diameter of 2" and inner diameter of 1.1". How to install the gas lift cylinder on your own? 1. Tip the chair onto its side. 2. Use the rubber mallet to tap and remove the base of the chair away from the seat. 3. Use the pipe wrench to clamp tightly onto the top of the cylinder. Twist and then pull up in order to remove the cylinder. 4. Remove the orange cap of the new cylinder. Insert the bottom of the cylinder into the center of the chair base. 5. Carefully lift both the chair base and the chair cylinder into the chair mechanism. The parts will then fasten on their own. Updated review: I ordered a replacement from another brand. Upon installation, I noticed the exact same issue: When sitting down, the seat would slowly drop. It occurred to me that the button on the top of the cylinder that activates the height adjustment was ever so slightly depressed. The cylinder had gone into a Herman Miller Classic Aeron chair, which is cable driven and has a lever that activates the push button on the cylinder. The lever has an adjustment screw which needed to be backed out slightly. Once I adjusted the screw in combination with the new cylinder, it worked perfectly. Apologies for blaming this on the product. I'm sure if I had adjusted this screw properly, this cylinder would have worked just fine as well. Original review: Noticed today, 52 days after I purchased it, that the chair no longer stays at the set height when sitting down. I bought this for two reasons: the extra-long height, and the additional weight capacity. I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, so I need both to sit without hip and knee joint pain. I expected the 450lb capacity would be plenty, but here I am, sitting low once again, with knee and hip pain. Can't return since it's past the 30 day return window. I feel scammed. ... show more

Take a look at this product, it is well worth the purchase. For a taller chair seat, this does the job. It was a better and more sturdy lift-tube than my old one. It put my feet, knees and hips in a more neutral position for better comfort. Less cramped = more Comfort. A word though: it is an easy install once the old one is removed. Nice replacement product. Installation was mostly easy, had to take the leg assembly loose from the chair. Aside from that, I was done in less than 20 minutes.

    • Solid and Holds weight
No dislikes, but I do have to admit: I was very surprised as to how tall this made my chair sit. I didn't think that this unit would raise my gaming chair as much as it did. The lowest setting just barely allows me to get my legs underneath my computer desk. But at the highest setting, the seat is actually higher than my desk. It's actually quite amusing. Fortunately I have 2 chairs, so now the chair with the new unit is my new movie chair and the other is my computer desk chair. Wouldn't change it though if I could go back in time. ... show more

UPDATE: zero response from the company and its been a week. changing to 1 star Got this for my drafting chair in my shop at the start of this year. I weigh 150lbs and only used the chair a few times a week and its already failed. It will only keep my chair elevated if i sit on the very edge. I have reached out to the seller but no response on any kind of warranty situation. what a waste of money AND I got this one after another brand didn't work out of the box.     • Give new life to an old office chair
I had two office chairs that I paid $500 apiece for 20 years ago. They were still in perfect condition, except they would no longer stay at the level they were set - they would slowwwly sink down. I was remodeling and the contractor had a dumpster on the driveway, so I was going to throw the chairs away. The contractor suggested I look on Amazon for a cylinder replacement. I was able to repair two beautiful office chairs for the price of a couple of cylinder replacements. And even better, the old chairs never raised quite high enough for my office desks - these raise it perfect, with height to spare. What a great solution! Definitely recommend... ... show more
