The only reason I ordered this brand was the ease of installation advertised by the company. The hinged base pole was the selling point for me since I don’t have 5 strong bodies to hoist a backboard up in the air. I was quite surprised when it comes time to install the base pole and I notice there is no hinge. The instructions show a hinged base pole. I contact customer service who said they haven’t seen this before and would contact their engineering department. A day later I’m told the 54” doesn’t come with a hinged base pole. I go back a check the website and nowhere I can find does it mention this. All the promotional videos and advertisements push this hinged base pole. Even the instructional video you use for the installation shows a hinged base pole. I kind of feel like they welded the wrong bracket on and just said Oh that’s they way it’s supposed to be on the 54 inch goal… Long story short I now have the same problem I wanted to avoid in having to find a way to hoist this extremely heavy and awkward backboard up in the air and steady it at the right angle to get the 4 bolts in. I ended up have to rent a drywall lift from a home improvement store which was still difficult and dangerous because of the angle needed to line the poles up. So in summary if you are buying this for the ease of installation DO NOT BUY THE 54 INCH. Supposedly the 60 and 72 inch have the hinged base pole only. Or save $1K and get a goal from the local sporting goods store. Once installed the goal is sturdy and seems very durable but I was buying this much more expensive brand for the advertised ease of installation which it was not. ... show more
