This item worked well for about two months. The other day I pulled it out to turn the temp up and the tube became extremely hot to the touch and started smoldering! Singes appeared on the tube. I can’t imagine what would have happened to my pour fishies if I had put this back in the tank! Don’t use this item! It is dangerous to fish AND your hands! Fire hazard!!! ... show more

I bought this heater for my betta tank hoping it would keep the temperature around 78°. The directions say to set the temperature 3° higher than you expect it to be . I have a 3 gallon tank and it pretty much stays right around 75 which is okay, but I had the temperature adjusted up to 80 and it will not get above 75. ... show more

I purchased because it had a lot of stars and the price was great. I had this in 8 gallons of warm water that I needed kept at 80°. It didn't, the water was COLD after 10 hours. I returned and got a replacement. Same problem. Starting with HOT (91°) water this time and it still turned cold overnight. The red light was on indicating it was warming the water, but it really couldn't do 8 gallons of fresh water in a 10 gallon bucket. Yes, I followed the directions, kept it submerged and it just didn't work. Maybe 5 gallons or less would work. I have it 3 stars because it was easy to install, directions were clear and in my case, returning was simple and quick. ... show more
