I bought this as a damaged item from Dometics Amazon page with a nice cost reduction. Had no idea how bad the damage was, (no pictures) but a $300 discount was worth checking out. Damage is cosmetic and on one side and no effect on operation. Not a big deal to me, since its likely to get bumps and bangs during use anyway. This is a great refrigerator/cooler in every way. As others have said, built like a tank. I used it in both A/C mode and DC 12v mode. Using my Yetti 3000, it was drawing 7 watts in standby and 80 watts with compressor running. But, in 12v DC mode, it drew zero in standby and only 55 watts with compressor running. I ran it for 24 hours and the draw was only 7% on the Yetti 3000. Really great news, just how long it will run without charging the Yetti. I also have solar, so this unit should run as long as I need. Note, that if your using a power supply (not vehicle) change the voltage setting to "low" otherwise you will get a yellow warning message saying low voltage. With setting at low using the Yetti there was no message. This unit is also very quiet, it was so quiet that I wasn't sure it was working when I first plugged it in. The temperature shown is about 2 degrees colder than what I have it set at. But, I would rather it be colder than warmer. I was not able to get the bluetooth to connect, but suspect its more of a phone issue and not a cooler issue. Plus don't think I will really need that and I have so many apps on my phone was happy to eliminate one. This is a great unit, just so happy with it. UPDATE 9-9-22 after using the Dometic on four trips. Works flawlessly, a bit heavy when fully loaded. On my last trip the Dometic 35 stopped working when on 12v but worked fine on 110v. Issue is not, let me repeat, is not the Dometic but rather the Yetti Goal Zero 3,000. Found out the cigarette lighter output on the Yetti Lithium 3,000 is not regulated and when battery reached 47%, the voltage dropped to 10.8v and the Dometic refrigerator will not run on that lower voltage. Yetti sells a cigarette lighter adapter that is regulated, but you have to spend another $48 for this on (w tax/shipping) very disappointing that the Yetti power supply will only work on 12v when battery is over 47%, unless you spend extra. The Yetti 3,000X doesn’t need this regulator, but the Yetti 3,000 lithium does. Important info for Yetti users. My Solar 100 briefcase supplies more than enough power to run the Dometic on full sun. Just love how cold the Dometic is for very little watts. ... show more

I would. have given this five stars. However, I also brought the protective cover. Unfortunately it did not fit. So had to return it and order another. Good thing Amazon return policy and reimbursement is the best. However, for the high cost of cooler/frig and protective cover I would have expected for better quality from the protective cover. I have used good ice chests for years, but there's always the problem of getting ice. Even the best of them are only good for a couple of days if you actually use them. So, along come electric coolers. No need for ice, and you can put in more stuff because half the space is not being taken up by ice. My truck has a convenient 120v AC outlet in the back. It only puts out 100 watts when the engine is running, but that is plenty for this cooler. For other times I bought a Jackery power supply and solar panels. This wasn't a cheap upgrade, but I think it was worth every penny. Dometic is a very well respected name in RV refrigerators. In fact it's running in the back of my pickup right now from the power supply and cooling 54 beers for the big dinner tomorrow (unless I sneak off with one or two). My boat has a refrigerator and a tiny freezer that only goes to 26 which is pretty much just ice. I purchased this cooler and run it as a freezer at 7 degrees F. Very quiet and makes less sound than my refrigerator. You would have to stand less than a foot away to hear it. I downloaded the app and use Bluetooth to monitor all functions of my freezer on my phone. So far power consumption is almost zero. I have it on 110 V but underway (offshore) I will use 12V. Very happy with my purchase. I also have several Dometic products aboard and perform flawlessly, worth the extra money for excellence. ... show more

Received the CXF3 and immediately turned it on and set the temperature controls. We did play with the app but it really doesn't help that much. Haven't tested in the wild yet but plan on doing so soon. Some things to note: 1) Door lids are not very thick and don't appear to be heavily insulated. 2) When the freezer and fridge are on, you can feel the coldness through the sides. 3) Unit is somewhat heavy at 61 pounds unloaded but if you want the convenience of having cold foods, then you pay a price. 4) Temperature controls are good but not perfect. Set the unit to the recommended settings for both the fridge and the freezer, the freezer stayed pretty much 2 degrees above what was set, the fridge fluctuated a bit. Again, this was in an air conditioned environment so outdoor performance is yet to be tested. I will caveat this by saying that all I had in the fridge was a stick of butter and in the freezer a ziploc bag of ice. With a full load of cold items, I am sure the efficiency will improve. We initially brought it up to temperature on A/C and after establishing a good level of cooling, switched it over to a solar rechargeable 1000W Jackery battery unit that was at 98% charge. After approximately 8-9 hours, the Jackery was at 65% so the enrgy use was pretty good but this was with the unit in an air conditioned house. Since we live in Texas, the heat here will put a higher duty cycle on the compressor but need to test outdoors. One idea we came up with was to get some radiant barrier from Home Depot and plan on putting a piece on the inside of each lid (lid has a recessed lip so material won't interfere with closing). Radiant barrier should help with cooling loss in this area. We also plan on creating a radiant barrier cover that will help any radiant cooling from being lost on the sides of the unit (and yes, we know not to cover any vents, etc.). This will help keep the unit cooler outdoors and also act as a water barrier in case of rain. Plan on going camping at the beach and this along with the Jackery will reduce the need for ice except for cold drinks. ... show more
