  • Great Product! Save a life time of plastic bags!
Style: Disposal System
I bought this and it is missing the starter kit. rather then send me a starter kit, or a bag of starter Amazon said I have to return the whole thing and buy another one. I contacted doggie Dooley directly and they sent me the starter kit. I use the box it came in to Mark the ground where to dig. I have a lot of trees in my yard and I started to dig the post hole first because I kept running into problems so I did it backwards. It worked out okay for me since there were so many roots I found if I remove the top part of the grass I was constantly running into a root or a rock. Digging the hole is not easy I did it over a series of days but what a wonderful thing not to have all of those plastic bags and just to be able to throw in the hole close the lid and forget about it. We're in a pretty severe drought here so my I Dooley isn't holding water however it does not smell and the bugs don't seem to go that deep into the ground to bother it. ... show more

  • Works Well for our 3 Small Dogs
Style: Disposal System
We have 3 small dogs and this item has been a huge help in keeping the backyard area they use cleaned up and clear of flies. It’s so easy to just use a small shovel to place the dogs business in the Dooley on a daily basis and know the yard is clear. You have to dig down pretty far to install it but there is no odor from it that we have experienced. We use the enzyme tablets to help break down the waste. I know some people said this didn’t work but from our point of view it has worked extremely well and we would recommend it. ... show more

  • Test your soil first!
Style: Disposal System
From their website, they suggest a soil water test. Basically, dig yourself the hole and fill it with water and see how long it takes to drain. Mine drains really quick, within 30 mins to an hour. If it drains that fast, then this system will not work for you, since it will dry out and the bacteria won't be able to do their thing. I'm going to swap this one out for their steel septic model since that one holds the water and the waste before flushing it into the soil. Overall it's a pretty good product. It does its job as being the lid and keeping the smell out of your backyard. Totally beats putting it into a bag and tying it up and hauling it to the trash bin. (I say hauling since one of my dogs is 190 lbs and creates mountains of waste). I much prefer putting the waste into a hole and never having to deal with it again. ... show more

  • your paying for a plasitc lid and bacteria tablets....
I have had this for over two months and everything is working great. There have been a few times I worry the tablets are not keeping up with the business, but so far so good. The plastic lid is holding up well. I live in California and it held really well with the historic rains we had recently. We will see how it holds up with the scorching summer that is probably coming up. ... show more

  • Why didn’t I know about the sooner?
Style: Disposal System
I’ve had Dogs for over 20 years and I just came across this product. WTF took me so long? It is life changing! No more scooping up dog poo and emptying in the garbage! I live in SW Florida, all sand. I bought a pvc pipe and set this up. I will probably have to add water more often, the sand sucked it up quickly. This was so easy to install and so far, so good! ... show more

  • Good idea bad design.
Style: Disposal System
It works and is a good idea but the design is junk. The lid is flimsy held on by 2 screws in plastic. Mine broke in a couple of months. I ordered a new lid and it came without the holes for the screws predrilled so I had to try and figure out how they lined up. Didn't do so good. Manufacturer, at least predrill the holes. ... show more

  • Is this REALLY what you want?
Style: Disposal System
I’ve had this thing up and running for a little less than 3 weeks, and overall I’m happy with its performance so far. It seems to be working as promised, if not better. The instructions clearly say that each unit is for 2 big dogs, or 4 small dogs. We have 2 large dogs and 1 small dog, and so far I haven’t noticed any problems. I do add extra enzymes to help accelerate the waste breaking down. I absolutely WOULD NOT recommend digging a hole less than the 4ft outlined in the instructions. Six feet would be better. I ended up spending $150 on a hand auger to dig the hole, so that might be a consideration if you’re contemplating trying this out. You do not want to skimp on the hole or it will fill up before the enzymes do their thing. We’ve had several 100+ degree days already this summer, and the only time I have smelled anything is when I’m standing over it with the lid open to add water or dog waste. Even then, I’ve suffered through outhouses that smell worse than this. It does require adding several gallons of water every few days. I’ve been using hot water because I feel like it helps activate the enzymes. For anyone considering buying one, the main question you need to ask yourself is, “Do I REALLY want a 4 ft hole filled with dog waste in my back yard?” It may sound like a silly question, but ultimately that’s what this is. ... show more

  • Brilliant!
Style: Disposal System
I was skeptical, but this turned out to be the perfect solution to poop bags filled with stink waiting for the garbage collector. We live in FL. A day in the garbage with 90 degree weather and we had a stinky mess! YES, you need a post hole digger. YES, there is no smell. We have a sandy backyard so the water doesn’t stay in the hole very long, but no problem. We put a couple gallons of water in the hole about once a week and throw in an enzyme tablet. We have a small dog and have had this about 6 months. The hole has filled in a couple of feet (mostly from the sand caving in from the sides when spraying a hose), but the top is still secure. We’ll get years out of this hole. We have this in our side yard, in the shade and a lawn more doesn’t go over it, so it hasn’t faded or become brittle or cut up. All is good. I’m ordering another for my son’s backyard and his 2 large dogs. I don’t like picking up poop and bagging it when I dog sit, but I WILL drop it into this collection device! ... show more
