    • Well built, easy to assemble but you have to do some homework to get the thing going
I was struggling deciding how to write this review. Should it be 1 or 2 starts or 5. I settled on 5 and here is why. The machine is well built, it is easy to assemble (most of the unit is already assembled for you), it is very solid, all metal no cheap wood parts, it can mill soft metals and all woods. For the money you really can’t beat it. Am I glad I bought it YES. Was there a point that I thought I made a mistake, yes, but no more. Now for the cons: 1) no instruction assembly manual provided (this is minor because it was pretty simple to put together, but really?) 2) the software to make it run (mach3) wasn’t provided in the box and it is supposed to. But if you contact the seller they are helpful and will show you where to get it. It would have been nice for them to have some sort of leaflet or document stating how to get the software. In the email that they sent me they mentioned that they couldn’t send it to the US. 3) you need the unique config files for mach3 SW (that wasn’t originally provided, but eventually found after contacting seller. See 2 above) for this usb device. Again, not sent the first go around, but when I contacted the seller they again showed me how to get it. 4) turn around of communication with the seller is 24 hours. I assume they are located on the other side of the globe. However, they are helpful, I just didn’t know what to ask them. Disclaimer: I am a complete CNC novice so the issues I had might be trivial for someone more experienced. However, even though it took me some research I am very pleased with my purchase. I have now made a simple modification to install a Z probe on the unit and the next step is to install limit switches. (Both mods take a little work adding the wiring needed to the USB controller. It’s pretty easy, just Google the board type of the unit and there are lots of videos/instructions.) I have made several objects with this CNC so far and I am pleased with the results. I still haven't got this thing to work hasn't moved an inch inside the box I'm assuming there is a breakout board on the other side of that USB plug if it needs to have drivers downloaded to update they should tell people that still trying to figure out how to make it work think I only gave it one star because it's I have to to be able to write a review ... show more
