Impressive CO2 laser. Well engineered, built, large capacity and resolution capability. Shipped across country with rather thoughtful, perhaps… over zealous packaging to minimize any damage. Mirror alignment took awhile, to home in, but instructions were well thought out and fairly exacting. Used and I would strongly recommend the “Lightburn” software which readily auto connected to the RUIDA controller. Corel draw did not auto connect even given the IP address? The auto focus makes for rapid setups and changes of stock thickness rather easy. Using the water chiller and associated filter exhaust system. Tech manual has substantial short comings that would push most casual users away from OMTECH selection. However, the support from OM tech is “good.” Video availability and user groups (kudos) have been very good nah, rather awesome in sharing techniques and helping new users get up and running! Have used extensively an epilog 40 watt and another 140 watt CO2 before (zero support and zero documentation), and this OM tech hit a sweet spot for price, capability and results. Yes, I’m impressed!

I built and used a diode laser engraver for a couple years and finally decided to upgrade to a larger CO2 machine. Did a lot of research between the big names (Boss, Epilog, Glow Forge, ect) and the no-name Ebay units. Found the OMTech users Facebook page and finalized on the 60W AF2028, I'm really happy with it so far. Freight was a lot faster than I anticipated, at no additional cost, super smooth. I had the machine setup and calibrated in a few hours. It comes with the basic essentials (built-in exhaust fan, aquarium pump and plastic tub for cooling, cables, ect. Since initially setting it up, I have upgraded the exhaust to an actual blower, built a DIY AC unit chiller, added a camera for Lightburn, and built a cart to raise the bed height.

The media could not be loaded. Have not made anything, machine has not worked. I contacted the seller on June 12, the machine doesn’t work. I waited for a new part to arrive from over seas, I installed new part. Machine still doesn’t work. Contacted seller again, they asked me to confirm switch was set at 110v, which it was, so I confirmed, yes, set to 110v. I even provided a new video of the problem. NOW, I receive an email, “You mean the replacement part works well currently, right? We are glad to hear that. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to ask.” Um, YES, I need assistance. I told them it doesn’t work in 3 emails after installing the new part and provided a video. Here I am, 17 days since my first contact and all I have is a giant paper weight and emails. It takes a full 24 hours or more for a response. I am at a loss as to what to do. I have now requested a refund. So excited to try and return this huge machine. Update: July 3 I received a new controller I purchased from Amazon. Took me 2 days to install and get to work, but, it now works. Seller did make it right, kudos. I have created several items and find it to be a good value. You need to be prepared to become a repair technician, this has been a huge learning experience. Changed my rating to 3 stars, machine needed 2 parts replaced immediately in order to work. Seller did provide the parts. I hope my machine was just a weird one off fluke.

The media could not be loaded. I am still getting to know my OMTech 60Watt Laser cutter/engraver, but from what I've figured out in extremely impressed. The auto focus works great, the bed drops down several inches, the front, back and sides open for longer than normal items. I was able to cut thru 1/2 inch plexiglass, solid! I did have some difficulty with the initial connection via USB, but that has been resolved. I would like to connect it to my network but ruida only has static ip dressing and doesn't have the mac adress available to setup for static. Everything so far has been great, except the exhaust fan isn't enough. Even with a clear pathway, the machine will fill up with smoke and stay full of smoke for a couple of minutes. I added an extra exhaust blower to be able to keep the smoke from building up at all. I've ordered powder coating paint to fill in the etchings to make them pop! Over all this is a great investment for my business.

I must say this laser is great! I have a back ground in lasers and have used them through high school and college. I didn't want to spend a ton of money so I decided to go with this and boy I'm glad I did. I had a glow forge laser which is just terrible, this laser smokes the glow forge at more than half the price. It's fast and I mean fast. Everything was packaged like a tank and worked out the box, I didn't even have to align the mirrors. Support was very responsive. The only issue I had is Orion marked my laser as shipped with a fake tracking number to get around a late shipment from Amazon and unfortunately this seems like a very common thing at the moment. So keep that in mind when ordering. Overall I am extremely happy with my laser and highly recommend them.
