I had a LaserPecker 2 before and was already in awe with that machine. A short term jewelry project had me order this LP4. two lasers in one tool is enabling a whole new world of possibilities. While the footprint is significantly larger than the LP2, I would still consider this machine compact and portable. Since I have almost no space I n the shop (my wife occupies most of it with her machines :D) I was looking for a compact, but flexible tool. This combo with slide extension and rotary tool covers now 100% of my projects. The lasers are powerful and can even cut through 4mm acrylic. the IR laser is very precise and engraves very small jewelry while it is not the cheapest on the planet, it is very well built, ease to use and there is a good support community around the product (FB mainly) The software can see improvements, but is already on a very high level. ... show more

I've had the LP4 for all of one whole day. It's very well made and very sturdy. i don't feel like it's going to break if I decide to move it around. It was incredibly easy to put together. As a complete newbie for the software, it's not user friendly. That doesn't seem to be a LaserPecker problem, the other similar softwares are the same. The instructions and training seem to be geared towards someone with at least a little experience. Some training for complete newbies would be great. Overall, I'm very happy with the product. I recently received my new LaserPecker4 laser and it took about five minutes to set it up, WOW ! Could it be any better than this ? The included software was a snap to download and install, my laptop was quick to connect with my LaserPecker 4 . I was surprised at how easy it was to start using the laser, I tried several kinds of materials to engrave and I wasn’t disappointed with the results, every sample I tried was a complete success, this is the by far the best tool that I have ever tried and it worked right out of the box ! The Engineering experts at LaserPecker have created a great product and I am looking forward to creating many beautiful products with this amazing tool, thank you guys for the terrific tool. The packaging and the machine hardware are beautiful! Truely a work of art. Had some trouble getting it going because there really isn’t a clean direction- do this, than this.. kinda thing. Make sure you update the firmware- this fixed all of my initial issues. I have found the company to be responsive and helpful. The only down side is the laser pecker software isn’t great, but as I use it more I’ve gotten used to some of the quirks, they are minor… but I gave it 4 stars due to the clunky interface and lack of good and up to date training. I may reassess this later because it seems like they are constantly updating the software and it’s getting better all the time, I don’t see this being an issue over time ... show more

The directions are a bit sketchy, but it is east to set up without them. I'm one of the most tech illiterate people on the planet and I'm already selling custom hats and tumblers. I've had the Laserpecker 4 for 2 weeks.

This is my first engraver of any kind. It was pretty easy to set up, and is very portable. When it comes to engraving pretty much anything but wood, it was easy to figure out. Wood, I just can't get the hang of, which I know is a lot of trial and error (and that's more on me and the quality of wood than the machine). The sliding extension was easy to figure out how to use, but the rotary was a little more challenging to figure out. I had to drag a second pair of eyes in to help, but I got it eventually. While I know lightburn does work, we were never able to get it to communicate correctly with the laser (I blame our own lack of knowledge on this). The software that comes with it is ok. I know some people complain about the features that it doesn't have, but I design everything outside of LPDS and then just drop and go, so I can't really complain too much about its actual functionality. Since we are designing on one computer, and using either a phone or another computer to cut/engrave with, it was just easier to design and import as a SVG than to make sure that all the computers had the same font, software, etc. I'd say, overall, for someone who has absolutely NO idea what they are doing, it was a pretty decent little laser to start with. Update: be cautious! We have since returned the machine due to several things. One, the 1064 laser just quit working, which seems to be a frequent topic of discussion in the Facebook groups. Two, it says it can do so much, but I'd really like to see how they pulled it off. It's fine if all you want to do is engrave. However, when it comes to cutting, anything larger than I'd say, 2 inches wide, good luck, because one of the edges cuts at an angle. If you ever want to stack things, they will never line up because of this. It also can't cut acrylic, which is another thing they say they can do. The software is pretty buggy and has different pros and cons across several platforms. Really disappointed because they say all the things it can do, but spend a day on the Facebook group not moderated by them, and you will see that more people have issues than not. Luckily we were able to return past the 30 day window as the unit was defective. Maybe after it's been out a while the kinks will be worked out, but for now it seems like everything was just rushed to market without much, if any testing. ... show more

I just knew this thing was a scam but knew I could return it since it was from Amazon. It does EXACTLY what they say it does. It is very easy to use. I have used cnc machines and bigger lasers and this is easier than an all of them. In fact it is easier to laser something from my phone than it is to print something.
