This is a great idea , I bought it for my tall bookshelves, big problem is that it’s pine. I bought the longer ladder, so the side pieces were so twisted and warped the ladder is barely usable, it will not lean straight against the bookcases . If they made this ladder in a better wood species and ensured the pieces they sent were reasonably straight, I would have paid more to get a decent ladder. ... show more

Ladder overall looks nice, but we've had numerous issues since putting it together. Would not purchase again. Pros: Easy to assemble Clean, minimalist look Cons: Poor Hardware- 3 of the threaded rods wouldn't actually tighten, the ends just slipped on and off One of the long 96" ends developed a vertical split about week after it was put together. The wood arrived slightly damp, so it probably warped when drying. Very unstable for anyone over 150ish pounds. I didn't trust it at all (I weigh 180 for reference) and never went higher than the first step. My wife (much smaller than me) was OK using it for the first week until the cracks developed Seller couldn't furnish replacement parts, so I had to complete a full return which is a huge hassle with an item this size. ... show more

The soft wood is not a good choice for a ladder. It would have been better made out of a denser hard wood. It does what it does, but does not inspire confidence.

I haven't decided if I am keeping it natural or not. Living with it this way until I decide. I needed a permanent ladder to clean filters once a month on my split unit. Hauling in a dirty ladder from the garage was not happening. My ceilings are 10' tall. This is perfect.

First thing you need to do when receiving [any] wood products is to let them acclimatize by laying them flat on the floor for 48 hours. Thereafter I unpacked and assembled the ladders and they are straight and nicely done. (See image) There is however a manufacturing problem when it comes to the [4] threaded tension rods. Many have written that the cap nuts do not hold on the threaded tension rods. Here's the reason why: The cap nuts are metric, [M8 1.25] (see image) the [4] tension rods are neither SAE or metric but more like some messed up fantasy thread. (See image) If you look at the thread picture you see immediately that they are anything but any kind of a standard thread. Something and/or someone messed up badly in some factory.... Obviously no quality control either. So I had to go through the extra expense of around $35 (per ladder) to get 8 cap nuts, SAE or metric and 72 inches of accordingly metric threaded rod. Cut 4 pieces ~ <18" and assemble all with the correct material. ... show more
