  • Almost 5 stars
Color: Silver Style: Bluetooth
I have two of these (one a slightly older model) and for the most part, they have been great purchases. I have run into occasional bugs with the app, but they are few and far between, and I have never been stuck standing outside in the rain. I believe the software bugs have been worked out, as I have had no problems at all for months. Overall, these are great, and I'm getting another one for my mom for Christmas. ... show more

  • Second August Lock. Can’t go back to keys.
Color: Silver Style: Bluetooth
I love these locks. I’m bad about forgetting to lock the door but this locks automatically after a few minutes, can easily be unlocked from my phone or watch & automatically unlocks when I get home. Still gives me full awareness of when my door is unlocked by someone other than me. Highly recommend.

  • Great with WiFi "August Connect"
Color: Silver Style: Bluetooth
We have 2 energetic dogs that get walked separately at least twice a day; this lock with August separate Connect for Wifi are great - automatically lock and unlock the door while holding onto the leash. Sometimes I don't walk far enough for the geo-fencing to know to unlock. I carry a key for these occasions. I'm pretty concerned about security and monitor constantly; this is locked when it should be (I check August history and Alexa status). I later bought another smart lock that integrates with Ring, but never installed when I realized it had no auto-unlock capability. A couple quirks - not worth subtracting a point: - we have a double door with a metal astragal (on the door that's usually closed). August provides an optional gadget that detects when the door is ajar. When I tried to use this, the August could not communicate with this gadget. I assume the problem is the metal astragal. So i disabled DoorSense (the door ajar feature). - I used to have an Android phone - the August app was a bit flaky and unlock failed until I did a reset. I recently got an iPhone and the the flakiness disappeared. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Color: Silver Style: Bluetooth
Great item, very helpful, convenient and price is right on the spot. The only thing is that I can’t put it to work through Home.

  • Not what was expected.
Color: Silver Style: Bluetooth
I have both the 3rd Gen Pro, Smart Lock and 1 bridge. I bought the smart lock and bridge back in November so I've had it set up and for a little over a month. I'm also working with a Samsung Galaxy S9 which has notoriously terrible Bluetooth connectivity. So here are some thoughts on these locks. 1. Buy the bridge. relying on Bluetooth alone will lead to you being locked out of your house. It's hard to say if it's the phone or the lock, but sitting here right now about 10 feet from my front door, I keep losing my connection to the lock. I also have to restart my phone to re-establish the connection to the lock that is not paired with the bridge. I find this more than just a little ridiculous. The lock that is paired with the bridge doesn't lose it's connection and thankfully, that's the door I use most often. So if you want to make sure you have a continuous connection to your lock, even when in your house and standing next to your door, you have to have the bridge. The Smart Lock - This feels like a legit dead bolt lock. It's easy to install and the set up was easy. I have no issues with the lock itself. Although I have had to re-calibrate the lock twice after just 1 month. The Smart Lock Pro - Feels a little cheap. For $200 it should feel solid when turning the cylinder to lock and unlock. However, it feels loose. I thought I might have just gotten one that wasn't put together correctly but found that the demo models in store felt the same way. This is the one that's not paired with the bridge and as such, it's more of a dumb lock than a smart lock. Sadly, you can only pair one lock per bridge, so i'm having to purchase another bridge in order to hopefully get this thing to work as it's supposed to. The App - The app is pretty straight forward. It's easy to share access to the locks with other people. Hopefully their Bluetooth works better than mine. The auto-lock function works well because it's just a timer. The auto-unlock function is garbage. I would say that it only works about 10% of the time. So before you buy these locks, imagine that you're coming home with arms full of groceries or a kid who really has to use the bathroom and your expecting the lock to recognize that a) you're within 200 feet of the door b) the door needs to be unlocked. You reach for the handle to find that neither of these things are true and you now have to fumble with your phone, open the app or fumble with your keys to manually unlock the door. Meanwhile you're dropping the eggs on the ground or the kid just went to the bathroom in his pants. Thanks August. So this aspect of the app needs a lot of attention. A 10% success rate is terrible. It also does not recognize that I have left the 200 foot perimeter. So at the moment, the auto lock / unlock feature is useless. The paired lock also works pretty well with Alexa. I will be keeping the locks installed in hopes that the performance improves, especially after adding the second bridge. I wouldn't buy these locks with high expectations of making your home any smarter or making sure that you get quick and easy access to you home in order to avoid accidents. After 1 month of ownership, I'd just say "buyer beware". ... show more
