The Pilita Digital Meat Thermometer arrived extremely fast. The instructions were very easy to understand and we tested it within 1 - 2 minutes of receiving it. Setting the temperature is very easy. The display is big and bright. I loved it. My wife (the person who was to be using it) loved it, as well. But, the one thing she didn't like about it is the probe is protected by a metal braided sheath. It certainly protects the cord within the sheath particularly well. As she found out the hard way that metal braid gets extremely hot and burned her skin when it brushed against her arm in the oven. My "loving"/"caring" husbandly take was, "Well, it is metal, so..." followed by, "Now you know not to let it touch your arm again." Her take was, "Do you remember who cooks your food and goes to bed after you are sound asleep?" I understood loud and clear! Back it went! (I would have kept it, it was great!)

I would not recommend this thermometer. The lowest temp it can be set to is 140 F, which according to their own chart on the box is Medium. If you want to take your meat off the fire at a lower temp to have a medium rare or rare... or to do a reverse sear, don't rely on this thermometer. I have added a star since my original review - I appreciate the customer care from this company. They reached out to see how they could improve my experience. Very appreciated.

EDIT: I was offered a free replacement of their updraded model with a brighter standby screen, (at no charge or return) and it's MUCH MUCH better! OLD: I keep using it, it's fine, does what it's supposed to. But I'm sorry...the display is a big thumbs NOPE. In the first two pictures...it's on. You wouldn't know it though. The entire display goes basically black after 30 seconds. Do not buy this if you value just being able to look over and see the temp, even from 3 inches away. You can't. I have to walk over to it every single time and actually press on the screen, in my WELL LIT kitchen to see the temp. It's absurd. I can't just glance at it while I'm prepping other stuff, or walk near it to see it better, no I actually have to, while my hands are messy and wet or covered, press on the screen to see the read out. Absolutely not kitchen friendly at all.

I picked up this meat thermometer after my old one's battery died, and was pleasantly surprised with what it could do. It has a pair of magnets on the back, so it sticks to my refrigerator's metal side. I'm mainly using it as a convenient timer because it's easy to quickly set a time you want. The meat thermometer function works well, although you do have to push the buttons more than I'd like. It's limited by the three control buttons, so selecting the temperature and meat type can be a little slower. I really appreciate that the thermometer part is detachable. I have it wrapped up and only use it when I'm cooking something. I do really like the blue / orange display colors. They look good together. I enjoy that all of the meat types have pictures of the animal you're cooking. The display has a backlight that's definitely necessary. With the backlight off, you can't read the display at all. If you view the screen from the wrong angle the numbers can be a little hard to read. Overall I am using this thing a lot when I'm cooking, I definitely recommend it.

I changed to 5 star because of the seller- fast delivery! I used two thermometers to make sure that I didn't ruin our Prime Rib for Christmas dinner. This one read a little "hotter" than my candy thermometer. Our prime rib was a tad under cooked for our liking. I also found that it was not very user friendly. My son had to help me figure out how to set it. And it cuts off so that you have to touch it to make the setting appear but by doing so you can accidently change the settings .... very frustrating. The whole reason of using this was so that I wouldn't have to baby sit this all day... which I ended up doing so anyway.

Sup, I like this product because now I can put the meats in the oven without checking it every 5 minutes. Gordon Ramsay said something about how you open up the oven and it loses its temperature rapidly thus making your cooking time take longer. I like to put frozen meats in the oven and just set it and forget it. One complaint I have is that the temperatures are SLIGHTLY different from FDA standards. For example, the thermometer recommends the internal temp of chicken is 175 but it should be okay for 165 chicken. I know they do this because its safer but theres no way to change that. But other than that, I really like this because it helps keep my mind at peace.

So far I have only used this for cooking filet mignon and boneless ribeye. I used the default settings for medium for the filet and medium rare for the ribeye. I pan fry medium heat on the stove, 5min each side. Then finish in the oven at 500F. When the thermometer rings, I take them out and rest. After cutting in to them it's noticeable that one is medium and one is m.rare. If you are still using an analog thermometer, you will like this one. However, one annoyance is that I have to press a button every time I power it on to go to Fahrenheit. But since the thing is set to go off when it's m.rare or medium, it doesn't REALLY matter if it's set to C or F.

This product changed my cooking life! Before owning this, I used to have to constantly pull out the meat and check it with a meat thermometer but those days are gone! This sticks right to my oven door and lets me know the temperature while I'm taking care of the rest of the meal. It provides very easy to read LED info and the instructions that came with it showed me step by step on how to use it. It will even alert you when the temperature has been reached. Don't have something magnetic, it has a kick stand so you can put it on the counter! This thermometer is amazing!
