  • Great product, but has a flaw...
Style: With Basket
So i have now had this can crusher in use for about 9 months almost, and i absolutely love it. If you dont have enough money to get a air powered/electric one then this is a great step down from that. It works like a charm and is way better than the traditional wall mounted options where you can only load one can in at a time and it has to be hand removed after its crushed, with this one you can load up 10-12 cans at a time or something and the cans automatically fall out of the crush chamber once they are crushed and if you have a collection bin sat below to catch them then its very nice to use. However there is one apparent flow with this machine, so the whole thing is made out of some sort of sturdy plastic and inside the crush chamber while in use will get slick with the sticky soda coming out of the cans and what happens after a while is that the can begin to slip out of the crush chamber and be launched from out of the bottom of the machine without even being fully crushed. So what i had to do to fix this issue was take a piece of sand paper and super glue it to the back part of the crush chamber where the cans get pressed against it and it helps hold them in place to be crushed so they dont get shot out of the bottom like a rocket. You could also possibly use some velcro too or felt maybe, just something that offers a bit of friction on the can as it gets pushed up against it. If this could be addressed and a new model put on the market i would for sure buy it and give 5 stars! ... show more

  • 6 months in - works great!
Style: With Basket
I wanted to use this product for a while before reviewing. My experience: Yes, it's cheap and flimsy, but it works surprisingly well! The key is to take your time, so don't do it if you're angry at your dog or job. It crushes the entire stack of cans every time, but I leave a couple in there as the last two tend to bounce around during the process. Seems to do better if you face the cans to the wall and squeeze a small dent in them as you drop them in. Stomp your tall skinny cans or do them one at a time. Won't flatten cans like a 200lb stomp, but good enough. I would have paid $10 more for a sturdier product, but everything is about low prices these days. ... show more

  • Crusher is great, can holder is not.
Style: With Basket
The crusher installed with ease, but the basket assembly didn't work. In the end, I decided to just load one can at a time, because I felt that, even if I managed to get the flimsy basket to mount, it wouldn't stay there. Otherwise, the crusher does its job well. I would suggest hanging a trash bag over the crusher so the cans fall right into it. ... show more

  • Appropriate tool for a simple chore.
Style: With Basket
First I'd address lots of other reviews; this is made of reinforced nylon. First, nowhere does it say it's anything else, second, we're talking about crushing ordinary soda cans; it isn't metal and doesn't need to be metal. If you expect this to be 3/4" plat steel...don't drink and shop. The boomeresque concept of "plastic is junk" is dying a rightly earned death. For the chore, this is plenty sturdy that it doesn't need to be made out of inch thick sections of high carbon steel. Assembly and install...pretty dang quick and easy. Took like 20 seconds to figure out the nomenclature on the pieces, and it was easy sailing from there. Bore a couple holes 4" apart, run in the screws, done. To anyone who might find install difficult...don't ever buy flatpack furniture or you'll commit hari-kari in desperate confusion. Use? This is the only part to knock. There's a lot of open space around the bottom of the chute so if you drop in the can from the top, odds are good the first will land neatly ready to crush and the second through tenth will bounce out to the floor. But, going slow and being smarter than the tool you're using makes it easier; set the cans in place rather than tossing them in from great height. Working the lever is easier if in the few seconds you handle the can to load it, you dent the sides a bit to get started. (You're not crushing the can by hand, just breaking the tension so the crusher can work with less force required, and thus less wear on the crusher. I feel like 99% of people who decry "cheep playstic" are those who pay rock bottom prices and expect a thousand dollar product.) It's a simple tool. I'm pleased with it. Would I buy another when this one wears out? If the price is the same, $17...yes. Ten times easier on your hands and ankles than crushing them by hand and stomping on them. "But, but, but, it doesn't give a perfect crush like stomping them!" It's $17. If you want a crusher than can get it down to molecule thickness...spend more money or design and commission your own and pay $1,000 for a crusher...or just live with this crusher taking the can down to "good enough to sell to a recycler" thickness and only having the cost of a couple big mac's invested. Could this be better? Absolutely. Tighten up the open space around the bottom of the chute for less fiddly loading, little tighter crush on the ram, maybe a bungee to hold the handle up when not in use...but those are not features you should expect on a $17 dollar crusher, and you're crazy if you do! This can masher costs less than two cases of name brand sodas, and with shipping still costs less than three, and most buyers are going to bump their order over $25 to get free shipping anyways. It's hard to complain too loudly about something that does a job adequately without costing a "Made in America" premium $2,000 price. ... show more

  • Feeds the cans smoothly without jamming
Style: With Basket
I too, was skeptical of the plastic construction. But this one is much better than the old metal one that I had before. Fill up the hopper with a bunch of cans and they feed smoothly right into the crusher. My old one needed a lot of fiddling to get the cans to feed just right. This one puts virtually every can right where it needs to be, and drops it cleanly when done. I have crushed several hundred cans and am quite pleased. ... show more

  • Sturdy, Easy to use, Great for Kids chores
Style: With Basket
This Can crusher is great. It's easy to set up and VERY easy to crush. My 3 year old has no problem using this! The top part where it holds the cans took a little thinking on which way to bend it but it wasn't that hard. I've been looking for a can crusher that I could mount and put more than 1 can at a time. When I came across this I knew I needed to try it since I've tried others in the past. It came with drywall screws & wood which were crucial for me because I used both. I am able to put about 10 cans in the top to be ready to be crushed. My kids love crushing the cans so this is now one of their chores. They crush the cans daily. By far the best can crusher i've used! ... show more
