This will sometimes start beeping and won’t stop. Too many false positives make this thing useless. Save up for a better brand. Update: After posting this review I was offered a full refund. It’s nice to see that they stand behind their product. For this reason I would say buy with confidence.

Works great to detect surface metal fragments in wood when your eyes can fail you. Using the wide sweep detection yields okay results. The tip has the best sensor penetration for thick pieces of wood.

This thing is was tough. I used it in the creek a little too deep and it drowned. I would give it high marks though, helped me find quite a bit of stuff. I would recommend the fully waterproof version.

I got this, put the included battery in correctly, and pushed the switch. The light came on and after a short pause the thing went off as if it was close to Fort Knox! Tried many times. Tried taking the battery it while it was on. Tried…everything. I was on the verge of returning it. My Amazon batteries that were due today were “running late” but I also received a metal detector for the beach today with 9V batteries. I tried one. Sure enough…works perfectly! I’m not sure if it’s waterproof or not but the seal on the battery seems good.

When I got mine I took it out and it worked perfectly for about 30 minutes, it then began continuously vibrating and beeping. I sent it back which they quickly replaced but then remembered who knows how kind that battery has been in that box. Low or weak batteries have a huge effect in electronics as such.

I didn't want to spend over $100 for a pinpointer device. I am new to metal detecting and have only had 3 outings. The first 2 outings we didn't use a pinpointer. Although you can get by without this device by constantly cutting your digs in half and testing again with the main metal detector, this device really makes the experience better. We received this device before our 3 outing where my daughter and I used this. She was in charge of locating stuff within the dig with this device and she just loved it! It seems to have a range of around 1.5 to 2 inches through the dirt we were detecting in. It will beep whenever it detects metal and will increase the frequency of beeps the closer you get to the metal. Works really well for finding coins in the clump you dig after locating the target with the metal detector. Very simple to use, just turn it on and start poking around. The led light wasn't useful to us as it was daylight out but it doubles as an indicator if the unit is powered on. It seems fairly rugged and easily handled all the poking we did on the first outing, I have no doubt this will last a good while for us. Uses a single 9v battery. I would definitely recommend this device based on my experience.
