I really like the lamp base and stand. It seems very sturdy. It was easy to assemble. The bulb is included which I always find a plus when ordering lighting. The bend in the upper portion is just right for reading a book. For the price, it is a good buy. I am a bit disappointed in the lamp shade. I feel like it is too short and exposes too much of the bulb assembly piece. Also, the shade hangs from the electrical cord and swings loose which you don’t notice in the pictures online. It is hard to hide the quite heavy seem from the Velcro connection when it isn’t stationary. I will look for another shade later. I can’t figure a way to eliminate the hanging/swinging issue. But, again for the price of this lamp buying another shade will still make it a good buy. ... show more

I included a photo of the previous lamp we had for comparison. The style of this lamp is so much better! I appreciate that it has a sturdy base and a button switch. The light cream colored canvas fabric is exactly what I wanted for the shade. I was worried that I'd think the shade was too small, but now that it's here I do like the size, though my spouse thinks it could be bigger.
