  • Awesome Customer Service
The first one sent to me was defective and didn't work at all. The LED light would flash when the trigger was pulled but that's about it. I noticed that it had been used before and probably returned by someone else. I requested a replacement sent, which was pretty painless except new hammer drill was never sent. I finally reached out to Amazon customer service and received the most amazing response back from customer service. Everything was taken care of from there . The new hammer drill is a great tool. 3 different setting and no cords. This has more than enough power to do the jobs I throw at it. Drilling through and busting block. Plus the 60v battery lasts has never failed me. I should've scored on of these a long time ago! ... show more

  • Dude - I should have done this years ago! Detailed review - please read!
I purchased this drill for ONE building (shown in the attached pic). This is a hundred year old courthouse built from solid granite. It's a behemoth building that has been the bane of my existence for six years. Everyone that drills this building (electricians, LV guys like me, contractors) just gets frustrated watching it eat bit after bit or burn up drill after drill. It took me a LOT of research to figure out what I needed. These walls are thirty inches of pure granite. Not "stone" or "rock" or "Concrete".... this is a monster to have to drill! All my research finally told me that I was NEVER going to find a SDS or SDS plus that made bits long enough for what I need in this building. To get the length I needed (30-38 inches) I'm going to HAVE TO BE in the SDS Max category of bits - and that necessitated this drill. I researched Drills from all the major brands but since I'm spending the money I REALLY wanted to go cordless if it was at all possible. Of all the buildings I'd never want to try a cordless drill on, this would be at the TOP of the list. In fact if DeWalt had a picture of what NOT to do - this building should probably be on that page of their manual. But... you never know until you try. I remember spending 1.5 hours trying to drill 1/2" holes in the interior walls of this nightmare with my Makita corded hammer. Yeah, 1.5 HOURS! I'm tired. The drill got too hot and I had to let it cool. Issue after issue after issue. I've literally had electricians that do this for a living tell me "heck no" when I mentioned hiring them to drill this building for me. They all know it. They all hate it. No one wants to drill this place. So we show up today with our new shiny DeWalt cordless rotary hammer and I'm more than a little concerned that I just wasted my money and I'm going to find out this job is too much for this drill. EIGHT MINUTES! That's what it took. It eats through this kind of work like me going through a honey bun on lunch break! Eight minutes per hole in 30 inches of pure granite with a 1/2 bit! What's even more impressive is that the battery did 8 holes before needing to swap batteries. That's a solid HOUR of hard core drilling on one battery. (It comes with two). Worth the money? Dude, I'd have paid TWICE for this kind of performance! Now I literally cant' wait for another challenge. I love my old Makita but me and Brutus (yeah, it's awesome enough that it deserves to be named) here are going to have some fun on upcoming jobs. If it'll drill this building, I've got NO fear of putting it to work anywhere else I need to! ... show more

  • You want it!
The unit is GREAT! I use it to drill 1" x 8" into fully cured concrete foundations. This unit works as good as, if not better than my Makita AVT corded drill. The Dewalt has a lot less vibration than the Makita also. It bores smooth and quick, rebar is no problem either. With roughly 100 holes drill I have had no binds or anything. Each charge on the 9.0 AH battery gets me 19 to 21 holes and I drill 24 to 40 a day so the 2 batteries will carry me through a work day. This drill is every bit as powerful as a corded drill in my opinion. **UPDATE** After about 2 months this drill is as impressive as first thought. The battery life has leveled off to about 17 1"x 8" holes drilled per charge. Still nice considering i'm not fighting the cord. I have encountered a couple of binds and the protection operates as it should. ... show more

  • This is a great tool and I recommend it to everyone.
The media could not be loaded. I use this beast of a tool every chance I get.. I just love it. It has helped tremendously when out in the middle of no where and need to destory/drive things. The two 3.0ah batteries (9ah in 20v) will last you a good 20-30 minutes continuous each when I was driving a ground rod. It definitely beats breaking out the sledge hammer! I added a very short video of it driving a ground rod but take my word for it. It does whatever you need!! This is the 6.1 joules and the new one I heard is 13. I'm sure that would be much better! Probably will suck the battery a bit more though. This was my best buy yet.. I have most of the 60v line as the joist drill was a hell of a buy too! ... show more

  • What a beast.
Works better than any other SDS Max drill I have ever used, including Hilti and Milwaukee. I have used corded Hilti's that do less than this and Hilti makes good SDS drills. I have driven a dozen or so ground rods and I never have to drive them at an angle. This beast will drive them straight down even through brittle rocks and it does it quick. ... show more

  • All Around Awesome Hammer Drill
This is an awesome hammer drill with all 3 functions expected; hammer only, drill only and hammer drill both at the same time. Some people mention it's heavy, but I've personally lifted the Milwakee drill of this same style and it is heavier even without the battery installed. So no, in my opinion this drill is not heavy for the purpose it's designed for. Hammer only function sunk an 8' ground rod fairly quickly even in very hard earth; but I weigh 240 lbs so I had some azz pressing downward. Hammer drill function quickly made it through brick using a 2 5/8" Milwakee hole saw. After using this drill a number of times over the course of the previous 3 days, I still haven't had to use the second battery, so battery life is fine for me. All in all this tool is the cat's meow and I will be purchasing the Dewalt cordless 20V SDS Plus tool very soon as well. ... show more

  • Great for coring on a ladder
I use this drill to core 2 5/8 holes for conduit. It is very lightweight compared to my 2in drill which makes a huge difference when standing on a ladder. The low rpm makes dust control easier than my 1 1/8 drill a little bit heavier but cores twice as fast. The reason for 4 stars is the the chuck sticks sometimes making it a pain to change bits ... show more
