We just had a massive storm knock out power across the Ozarks. We feared loosing all our groceries but I had a brilliant idea! I ran extension cords from our refrigerator inside and freezer outside to our SUV, plugged them into this inverter and clamped it to my cars battery. Too easy! The 1000 watts was perfect. When my fridge first powers on the display shows 800 watts draw and the freezer was about the same. The solution is to connect only the fridge and start it up. After a few seconds the draw stabilized at 250 watts. Now connect the extension cord for the freezer. Draw peaked right below 1000 watts then stabilized at 350 watts. This gives you a lot of room for charging battery banks or anything else small. Considering this DeWalt inverter saved $300 worth of groceries and say it was worth every penny I paid for it. Works great! I mounted this inside my enclosed trailer to primary keep my power tool battery’s charged. It does that perfectly plus you can charge phone or portable speaker or radios with the usb ports or plug into the 110v plugs

I’m an electrical engineer and design avionics in small to medium class launch vehicles. This was bought to run a low wattage heater inside a small cavity of a rocket segment during transport. I also grew up in a home renovation family business so I am well versed with most power tools and brands. This inverter gives Dewalt a really bad name. Aside from it not working out of the box, it is quite noticeably built very very cheaply. Even the cables it comes with are made of low-grade wire and terminals. The inverter is very light and obvious that there isn’t much inside. I can only assume this inverter was built for the sole purpose of deceiving consumers with the Dewalt brand and providing an inferior product. I returned this and bought the Voltworks inverter shown in the image. This may sound like a cheesy cheap brand, but the Voltworks inverter put the Dewalt to shame in every way. It’s much heavier and the controls/terminals are solid. The 4AWG terminated wire is of great quality even by aerospace standards. Oh…and it actually turned on! Granted this is a Pure Sine Wave inverter vs. the Dewalt is only a modified inverter. But for only $60 more go with the Voltworks Pure Sine Wave inverter. ... show more

PROS: Easy to use. Many options to connect (battery, clamps, cigarette lighter). Nice blue LED backlit screen with all the info. Good size. CONS: Price is a little high (paying for DeWalt name). If the car isn't running it constantly beeps to let you know (annoying). Not sure if I exactly need 3 USB ports on this thing. The little feet have little caps on them that keep falling off (can just glue these on). Side note: While the size is good, it wasn't small enough to fit under my seat, and the legs elevate it up a little to make is JUST too tall to fit. I can't hold this against them just because my truck didn't have the clearance, but just wish it was smaller. Overall.. I love dewalt and this is a great product. Just wish it was cheaper and smaller. ... show more

Have had good luck with DeWalt over the years. Not impressed with made in China but wanted a budget friendly inverter for camping. It worked on a fan. I ran a TV in trailer with extension chord out window to inverter, drew expected watts and watched a movie no problem, DVD player was 12vdc. I plugged in my 30a trailer chord, (no ac, fridge or microwave.) It drew over 600 watts! Must be battery charger or long heavy chord? it did shut off before draining batteries completely which is good. ... show more
