I have been a firm believer in Dewalt battery tools since the 18 volt oval battery days. After selling my 18 volt converted to a 20 volt SDS Drill a while back, I came across the need to own another, as a project to add 30 plus shelf standards attached to concrete basement walls came up. After looking at the Bosch corded - which i found hard to beat from past use, I instead went with a cordless SDS, the bare tool Dewalt SDS I am reviewing. This thing is light, and first thoughts was that it wouldn't keep up with what I was needing to do. But once I started drilling any concern was resolved, this thing was a beast. Coupled with the 60 volt Flexvolt, it drilled flawlessly for over an hour, a total of 115 holes drilled. This were 3/16" and posed no problem for the drill or the Bosch bits. I haven't tried a 1/2" or 3/4" hole, that day is yet to come, but form what I needed, this drill knocked it out of the park. ... show more

This hammer drill has more power than i expected for a cordless, fairly compact tool. Plenty of power for chiseling concrete overpour away from footings and drills 3/8" holes quickly and cleanly. Great for shaping limestone with the 2" chisel

I owned a corded hammer drill for many years. It took a few minutes to drill a inch or inch and half hole in a brick. Then one day I needed to drill into a stone. It took 30 minutes and balded the drill bit. So to drill 4 holes, it took almost 2 hours. I told my friend about it and then he told me I need to upgrade to a brushless SDS Hammer Drill. I am ordinarily DYI and follow the Dewalt line because the majority of the construction sites use them. I do have some green tools but not many. I did not need a high end brushless SDS hammer drill and this met my price point. Once I got it. It was easy to assemble. You just screwed the handle on, inserted the SDS drill bill, installed the battery and I was ready to go. The first hole I made in the brick took less than 5 seconds. I was laughing and chuckling. Where has this tool been all my life? It was like drilling a rock with a hammer and chisel before. I made 4 holes in less than 30 seconds. No more sweating and pushing on the drill. I felt like I was drilling into butter. It was so smooth and fast. There was no heavy lifting of the drill and battery for minutes while I was developing aches and pain in the shoulder and back. I even made another hole in the same stone as before and it just went through it in seconds. Wow! ... show more
