  • Great for the cost
Size: Passage/Hall & Closet
Is a little on the "cheap" side, in particular the locking mechanism, but there is just the two of us and I cannot remember the last time we ever locked a bedroom door so they should hold up fine unless abused/forced. Fit well into the backset bore but the mortise bore required widening a little with a Dremel sanding drum. Probably could have forced the backset through the bore, but figured it easier to just widen the mortise bore a little. Edges of the mortise plate are deeper than a standard mortise plate so had to do a little Dremel work on the mortise recess as well so it would sit flush. All told, took about 10 minutes per latch to install on the door. But the strike plate is a different story. Strike plate opening/seat is nowhere the same distance from the door stop as my old plates when using the old screw holes. Had to Dremel a good 1/4 inch out of the strike jamb so the plate would mount closer to the door stop, drill out and glue dowels into the old screw holes (to keep new screws from trying to fall into the old holes) and then I could mount the plate far enough back that the adjustment tab could be used to fine tune the closing position. Otherwise, the adjustment tab would have to be bent out well beyond 45 degrees and the latch did not seat very well. Replaced 26 old bright brass knobs so this project took a while. All said, they look, feel and so far, operate great. Cannot beat the price which is so much better than off the shelf at the big box places. ... show more
