Very glad I bought this. This is my 2nd 7.2 ch Dolby Atmos AVR but my first ever Denon. So far no problems. Have an old pair of 100 watt 3 ohm Samsung speakers on it but waiting for 8 ohm 200 watt 5 surround speakers to come next week. My Klipsch RCS-Reference Dolby Atmos speakers rock along with the 300 watt monoprice SW-10 subwoofer. ARC/eArc switching between devices is nice. A stutter now and then but nothing major. HEOS and Denon remote app works great. Have not tried the microphone EQ set up for speakers yet. For a renewed refurbished AVR , it's like it's brand new, no cosmetic flaws. It's nice to have all banana plugs for speakers vs spring tabs . Worth every penny. I paid the same price 2 weeks ago for a new Onkyo TX-NR5100 and had nothing but problems and glitches so sent it back. Glad I did.

I don't know about those saying you need a science degree or PHD in audio engineering to set this up. This was pretty straightforward. As a matter of fact compared to Onkyos of old this Denon feel like a streamlined version. It's Audyssey mic setup makes basic setup super-ridiculously-easy. It picks up all the appropriate distances and settings flawlessly. However, "Surround Back" works the same as with Onkyo and Sony setups. It can be a rear placed l/r addition -- but it has a variety of other options (front ceiling firing, mid ceiling firing down, Atmos enabled firing rear) I do knock the user interface and language of its menus for being rather confusing. Using the standard setup there is no clear way as with other AV receivers to see a picture of what you are choosing for those (and only those) 2 rear speaker positionings (which WILL matter for Atmos calculations). Once complete you will want to tweak the levels just a hair in most cases (at least I did) but what I did not have to worry about was compatibility and clarity --> which weighs FAR heavier on my list of bang for you buck. Setups are far more rare, its the movie and content enjoyment that matters and that Denon delivers the digital goods. Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, DTS-X, with outstanding clarity and crispness. I don't think there's anything that DOESN'T play on this thing. I have run through most of my 4K UHD Disc library and haven't found anything that doesn't sound better than the previous Onkyo or my other Sony receiver. This was a great buy so far and I'm glad there was a refurbished edition to help me save some money.

I bought this as a replacement for a 10-year-old 7.1 receiver from another manufacturer that died on me. Unit works great with my existing speaker set-up. There are a lot of features that I haven't figured out yet; the capabilities of this unit are beyond my level of technical expertise. The only annoyance for me is that when I power up the receiver, it also turns on the unit to which the receiver is currently set. I routinely swap between PS5, PS4 and my DVD Player, and the receiver turns on the wrong unit if I don't immediately swap channels. I'm sure there is a way to turn off this feature. I was hesitant to buy a refurbished unit, but overall my expectations have been met and I am happy with this purchase.

I bought this refurbished. This receiver does everything I need and more. Sound quality is excellent and I'm also using it as my guitar amplifier post simulator processing. It has 2 presets that allow me to have a flat EQ curve for this and another for the home theater. It has multi zones that I haven't even begun to explore. As with most modern tech marvels, you need to read the manual for this one. By the way I searched hard for a dual voltage/frequency unit. This is not advertised as such but I took a chance and it is running just fine on a stepdown transformer (240V to 120V) at 50Hz.

This device with the proper speakers is very good, does almost everything I needed it to do and can still get very loud. I play it at roughly half volume otherwise it gets too loud in my space with the polk audio in-wall speakers I purchased and installed. Even though the device was 'used' I saw no real signs of any use and it appeared almost brand new and fully functioning with everything I'd expect from a new product. My only gripe is the connectivity options for things other than HDMI. You can't play audio easily over the phone and have to use their built-in app like HEOS or an application that is supported. I'd rather just play audio over bluetooth without using the HEOS app. I can still use spotify and play music, but for youtube videos or other things I have to play it through a different device (xbox, screen cast) to get the desired experience.

This would have been my 4th Denon unit. I purchased a refurb because I've had good luck with Amazon's refurbished items in the past. This one was a gift to my son for his first home this Christmas. What a disappointment...everyone in the family had secretly purchased all the various speakers needed for a 7.1 system and we couldn't wait for him to try it all out. After connecting everything and turning it on--blah. The Denon switched itself right back off again! The online manual says this happens when the thing detects a problem. The only problem was the unit itself. Impossible to describe how disappointing the experience was. Denon has a reputation for high quality products--they also have a reputation for being hard nosed about getting defective ones fixed. Not sure who Electronics Expo (the source of the refurb) is, but they clearly didn't do their job with this item. I sent it back and got a brand new one which was only a few dollars more. I'll review that one when it arrives.

Bought this receiver to replace my Yamaha V995 because the 995 didn't have HDMI. This receiver is an excellent choice for a 5.1 or 7.1 sound system. Discrete amplifiers for pure clean sound, and the Audyssey setup customizes the receiver for your room. Also this refurb unit had no scratches and all channels and functions worked perfectly. I would recommend this receiver without reservation.
