This banjo had great reviews but I immediately knew it was below expectations. I don’t fault the manufacturer but the dealer. There were scratches on the fretboard and the tone was poor. This could be due to cheap strings but I didn’t want to tinker with it since it appeared that the item was returnable for a full refund. I had to pay $71 to ship and insure the product. Then I was charged $224 restocking fee. Lesson learned. I will never purchase a product from Amazon Marketplace again. ... show more

I've always wanted to learn to play the banjo, but the opportunity never came up. When I finally decided to pull the trigger, I did my research. This banjo is absolutely the best bang for the buck. I bought this as an upgrade after learning on a beater for the last few years. It is a beautiful, solidly built banjo with a nice tone. I like the fact that it is made in the USA. (It just doesn't seem right to play a Chinese banjo). It like it a lot. The only downside is that it arrived with a small scratch and dent on the lower edge of the resonator. The packaging was intact so I assume that it was damaged before it was shipped. It's not a huge deal as I don't plan on selling it, and I did not want to go through the hassle of returning it and waiting for a replacement. But it is a bit of a disappointment after spending over $1100. It's probably a better idea to buy something like this that is fragile and expensive in person. ... show more

Very pleased with the product. I'm a guitar player who wanted to commit to learning more banjo. Couldn't justify "high end" at tis point but just wanted a quality built instrument with a good neck and good set up. This more than met my expectations- very happy with the product and the seller.

    • Excellent banjo!
This is a starter banjo for my 15 year old son. I feel it is an excellent starter banjo due to it's high quality at a mid-level price. We compared many models before deciding on this one, and it did not disappoint. The sound quality is wonderful. Would highly recommend!
