  • Serial thriller!
Format: Kindle
Jackson weaves a wonderful tale of suspense and intrigue. Carter, the protagonist, is a true to life character who Jackson should build upon for future books. Tough as nails, ruggedly handsome, he'd make the perfect hero lawman to hang your hat on! The sexual tension between our main characters keeps you riveted to their development. Jackson builds excitement and draws you into the twisted mind of her serial killer. Well done! ... show more

  • Just had something missing
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I pretty much enjoyed this book, but when I finished it I felt like it was just a bit incomplete in some way. It's not that the epilogue is actually the beginning of another book, 'FATAL BURN' which I am going to read, but rather just sort of a let down from the ending of 'DEEP FREEZE'. The characters were pretty well developed but Jenna Hughes just never got to me as being all that likable. Okay, I'll say it: I never warmed to her. Carter was well done as were the daughters. Lisa Jackson does a great job of creating characters that are consistent throughout her novels. The method of murder in 'DEEP FREEZE' is --well--Chilling! One thing that bothered me in this book was the rehearsal for the local play they were working on, "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE." Jenna and Rinda were disapointed in how badly the actors were doing and wondering if there was any hope of rescuing the production, then the statement was made about this only being the first rehearsal and there might still be time to save it. First rehearsal? Are they kidding? Having been in and worked on maybe a hundred or so stage productions, I think it's safe to say that there is no way to predict the final result of a community theater production based upon the first rehearsal. And I really question Jenna's choice of moving to Frostbite Falls from Hollywood. If she had really wanted to blend in and not be noticed, why would she move to a very small town where she would stick out. Subconciously, she must have still wanted to be in the limelight. Shoot, she could have moved to Omaha where she could have blended in and still had that small town warmth and friendliness. And the winters aren't that bad either. What was she thinking? I have to agree with Cassie on that one. There were a couple other problems I had with this work. Although Shane Carter's last minute desparation gamble was foreshadowed several times early in the book, I still thought it was kind of lame when the moment to face his fears arrived. There had to be a better way. And Cassie. The killer did not have time to prepare Cassie as he had the other victims. Why not? Precision was his mantra. I think it was more due to Cassie being the daughter of the heroine and to inflict that kind of cruelty upon Jenna's teenage daughter (love her or hate her) would have just been too much. I was disapointed though. Maybe I need therapy. The last issue I had was Amanda Pratt. There was a character I thought had promise. but she just kind of disapeared from the plot. Oh well. I have enjoyed all the Lisa Jackson books I have read so far and am always happy to recommend them to anyone. 'DEEP FREEZE' just seeems like a tough book to review though. Good book, but in the end it left me unsatisfied and I just can't get a grip on why. ... show more

Good story, interesting characters. British accent was very weird but tolerable. Going to try book 2 and hope there is a different narrator.

Lisa Jackson has always been a favorite of mine. She did it again! No of idea who the culprit is but gave you many of them to think about. This is a don't put down book!
